  1. there is a russian slang saying «тот кто носит адидас, тому любая баба даст» which teanslates to “he who wears adidas will be fucked by any girl he wants”

  2. If you look closely you can see his adidas jogger suit underneath his uniform /s

  3. Fwiw I’ve been wearing sambas for 25 years straight, a better shoe has never been made

  4. And doing a slav squat…it does not get more gopnik than this.

  5. Quite common in Afghanistan. Happened in Chechen wars too.

  6. If adidas came out with a line of sniper shoes, I would buy a pair.

  7. Great product placement. Almost as good as Nestlé cereals being in bin Ladens kitchen.

  8. What’s the aversion to combat boots by all non-western militaries?

  9. There was not Adidas in Russia in that period. It was Abidas, or Adibas or another variation of Turkish generics, Turkish because Chinese generics also was no a thing yet. All “brands” were Turkish.

  10. That was common in the late soviet / Russian military. Their boots were not as durable on rough terrain, so they just swapped them. Similar stuff can be found in Afghan war photos.
