Who remembers when a selection box was a selection box? Full size bars, some had more than a dozen bars. The things we have today are an embarrassment which I’ve stopped buying for the kids, simply not worth the money.

Are local santa gave them out every year.
I miss the stockings. Got one every Christmas. Ridiculous that they stopped making them
Yeah, I remember being given them for Christmas but not being allowed anything out of them… My parents were generally dreadful though. They used to buy me board games for Christmas, but then refuse to play them with me. Game of Life on your own, not much fun.
Big up Santa’s Sack.
How small would they be with skimpflation?
When I was a kid my mum had a job sewing those stockings at home. I earned my pocket money by sitting next to her and putting the finished stockings in a bunch (?) of 10. The white stuff from the netting got everywhere. Thanks for the memories as I had forgotten about this.
I remember doing well with sweets at Christmas.
Usually a big selection pack with full size Mars, Twix etc and then a Cadburys selection box too with full size double decker, Wispa etc
That and avag of chocolate money and tube of fruit pastilles usually lasted me to the new year!
I can feel this post.
Those big selection stockings with the nets. They lasted little me for weeks
Yes!!! They were the highlight as didn’t really get much chocolate. My sister would have finished all hers before Boxing Day…
The net stocking ones were usually pretty great. Occasionally something a bit dodgy like a raisiny one or mints if you were unlucky, but 7/8 full size chocolate bars and lollies on one day was immense.
No but I want the radio one
They still sell the stockings in Pets At Home.
The flavours aren’t what they used to be.
We used to have the medium stocking but we had to ration the chocolate to a half bar a day after Boxing Day (but not on the same day if we had had a tree chocolate!) 🙄
Same as Easter Eggs we were allowed half an egg daily and the little bag of Dolly mixture etc was another day’s treat.
When I moved out almost the first thing I did was to buy a lot of chocolate and eat it until I couldn’t face another piece!
This is soooo 1980’s Christmas.
I remember the stoxkings, but not the other stuff.
Looking more closely at your picture, this has reminded me of something my parents used to do – they used to have these catalogues where you could get these full on hampers of food – it was literally, like, everything – equivalent to a £200 shop, meats included. There were hampers of varying sizes and prices
I’m pretty sure my parents bought them for a few years.
OH MY FUCKING GOD TOFFOOOOOOOS!
