  1. He defends it because he will do it. Also remember that CPAC invited Orban to their convention and republicans are meeting with him this week about cutting off aid to Ukraine.

Nice republic you have here… be a shame if anything happened to it…

  2. I’d say, Stop Feeding Him Ideas. On the other hand, hand him the rope he’ll hang himself on – the sooner he goes, the better.

  3. So, we’re repeating the cycle of: Trump says X. Someone from his team comes out and says, oh crappy media, he didn’t mean what you say he meant by what he said. Followed by Trump coming out & confirming that’s exactly what he meant.

  4. The MAGA “movement”. More accurate to call it, the MAGA bowel movement.

  5. It sickens me how righteous these people think they are. Dealing themselves in the flag…

    Vomit inducing.

  6. The rest of the days will be spent putting down riots.

  7. He’s repeating it to normalize it, so if he gets to the WH, nobody will think twice when he pulls it off .

  8. Day one after Biden’s second Presidential swearing in; Biden will request the House and Senate to provide low cost mental healthcare to all MAGA movement members….

  9. “It was miraculous. It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice. Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character.”

  10. They’re gonna be shocked when they realize the first purge of the dictator will be those in their/his own party.

  11. In my experience when someone says they’re going to be something on day one, it signifies they will begin being something, not indicating they will only be this person on day one alone.

  12. Well, if he is a dictator on day one and throws out the Constitution, then it doesn’t matter what he calls himself on day two. He will still be a dictator.

  13. The only funny thing about this to me is the idea that he, as president, could accomplish anything in a single day.

Dude has an enemy list longer than a country mile and he only needs a day to get revenge on everybody on it. Then it’ll be back to the presidential duties of constant golfing and cable news watching.

  14. Trump is no Cincinnatus, so he’s not giving up power in four years, much less a single day.

The fact that Trump is even publicly tossing around the idea of being a dictator, even supposedly for a day should terrify everyone in the US.

  15. Dictators don’t stop being dictators. All they need is one day.

  16. Where’s Shoshanna from Inglorious Basterds when you need her..

  17. Best part is he’s saying drill drill with oil down at 70 but who cares about the facts?

  18. He only needs one day… to make himself president for life. AND… doesn’t he realize that the US is the world’s leading producer of oil? Since 2018… and he was president at the time.

  19. The New York Young Republicans Club has become notorious for their extremism during the Trump years. [Their big soirée last year](https://www.splcenter.org/hatewatch/2022/12/11/white-nationalists-other-republicans-brace-total-war) featured the founders of white nationalist organization VDARE, Peter and Lydia Brimelow, as well as notable Pizzagater Jack Posobiec, Newsweek editor and major figure in the fledgling national conservatism movement Josh Hammer, as well as MTG saying that if her and Steve Bannon (also present) planned 1/6 that it would have been armed. Several members of European far right parties like the AfD were also in attendance.

  20. He only needs to “act” like a dictator day one, so he can declare himself the only ruler and become a dictator. He could destroy democracy in one day. He’s got alot of money and power behind him that they could overthrow the government by force

  21. The similarities between now and 1930s rise of Fascism in Europe, especially Germany, is terrifying. It is up to Republicans to stop this from happening.

  22. He would totally walk it back if it were affecting him in the polls, but it’s not because his voters are also fascists.

  23. >“Since I know the deep state is listening tonight, once President Trump is back in office, we won’t be playing nice anymore,” Wax said.
    >
    >“It will be a time for retribution. All those responsible for destroying our once-great country will be held to account after baseless years of investigations and government lies and media lies against this man,” he said. “Now it is time to turn the tables on these actual crooks and lock them up for a change.”
    >
    >Trump then lauded Wax’s remarks.
    >
    >“Gavin, that was an excellent speech,” he said. “That was an excellent speech, wow.”

These fascists are openly celebrating retribution against their political opponents, and attacking the free press. This is no longer about politics, it’s terrorism.

  24. Eventually he will change that “on” to “from”

  25. The TV show Lil Dictator Donnie.

*Cartoon of Trump with exaggerated features trying to copy Kim Jung Un*

  26. Oh cool. It’s part of his platform now.

Not just a stupid gaffe. Dictatorship is what he’s advertising now. Awesome. Good luck folks!

  27. Why do y’all keep acting surprised that a republican politician is like this? As if they all haven’t been exactly this for decades? It’s really annoying.

  28. He’s trying to normalize it. It will not be long before other republicans start defending him saying things such as “well maybe America DOES need a strong dictator to right its path” or some shit like that.

  29. Can’t someone sneak a bomb into these meetings? Hijack a drone? Open a can of something deadly? Surely someone one must be working on this?

  30. All his Dick waving supporters in their “1776, defend the constitution” T shirts are jerking off over being first in line to vote for a dictator. What the fuck has happened?

  31. So, at this point, if I get angry at this (of course I should) then I’m giving republicans and Maga exactly what they want, my rage, my anger and they continue spewing fascist, racist, misogynistic venom. It’s exhausting and more importantly boring. Like arguing with a drunk 13 yr old.

  32. How could anyone believe he wouldn’t try to become a dictator with his past history?

  33. To be fair, Trump says a lot of things and doesn’t do any of them. All he’s personally done since 2016 is spew misinformation, create division, and support America’s enmities, foreign and domestic.

  34. But only day one? He will never give it up when he has the power

  35. Trumps supporters don’t believe in democracy. They don’t care that this is fascist, they like it because it’s fascist.

By the way, a day 1 dictator tends tends to still be a dictator on day 2.

  36. The significance is not that he’s telling us who he is. We already know- and he’s old. He’s telling us who his supporters are. And they are scary AF, many will outlive him.

  37. imo trump is the example of when killing someone would be justified, he’s a menace to humanity.
