Well this post is gonna be a social class shibboleth
Room temperature is my favourite meat temperature
Does it come with toilet paper?
Some nice prizes in there.
Classic. Do they have somebody who comes in selling little pots of prawns and crab-sticks in the bar as well?
Proper
Class act. Love a meat raffle. Don’t know what you’ll go home with but it’ll be meaty
Is this a regular thing in the UK? My relatives have never mentioned it.
The best type of raffle!
That looks more like the top table at Henry VIII banquet… tidy.
man i wish i was one of the old boys who drank down the social on a sunday and socialised, instead i sit on my own watching football.
Love the concept of a meat raffle, i imagine it was originally for end of the week stock from a local butcher?
UPDATE: I won a whole duck!
sign of a proper club
I’d love this.
Random question, but how much is a raffle ticket? And does your Club end up making some profit left over after the butchers have been paid?
I have never participated in a meat raffle but it seems a fun idea – imagine winning the ingredients for your Sunday roast dinner!
Oh right.
I’ve heard the phrase “meat raffle” before.
Didn’t know it was literally this.
I passed a sign on the road that said “meat bingo every Monday”. Is this what that meant? Bingo where the prize was meat?
I had a much darker interpretation…ಠ_ಠ
Since moving back to Canada, I so miss meat raffles at our local.
The working mens club I worked at did fur and feathers bingo. It was the most popular one all year.
Being Scottish I’d never heard of a meat raffle until I worked in guernsey, what a great idea
Imagine winning Mushrooms in a meat raffle 💀
I was once given a couple of nice steaks that an old boy had won in the meat raffle. He was staying at a travel lodge so had no use for them. He didn’t have an explanation for why he’d bought a ticket 😄

Curious about refrigeration
Ah they used to do a meat raffle at a club my parents went to.
Very random what they came home with but one time they hit the jackpot and came back with a few pounds of steak
I fucking love a meat raffle.
How long is that all going to be out of a fridge for
