So, I’ve been getting letters periodically for a while from a private car parking company issuing a fine for parking in a Lidl car park.
It’s come to this now where they are threatening court action, I have ignored all previous correspondence because I thought the onus was on them to prove I was the actual driver, what should I do now? Can it actually go to court?

They haven’t proved anything 🤷🏻♀️ they’re still just sending you letters as the registered keeper. Ignore.
Can it go to a criminal court? No never.
Can it go to a civil court? Possibly
What are the prospects of them taking you to a civil court? I’d say about 0.0000001%
If they did take you to a civil court- on the 0.000000001% chance that happened, what’s the chances of them winning?
Literally zero as thankfully in this jurisdiction the registered owner of a vehicle can’t be held responsible for ‘overstaying’ if they can’t be proven to be the driver in the first place.
In short. Say naaathinnnn
Ps I’m assuming this happened in NI
Just pay the fine man.

If you’re in England offer them £40 but don’t admit to being the driver. If you’re in NI don’t bother contacting them.
If you’re in NI, they won’t take you to court because they know they will lose and no one will believe their threat ever again. They won’t send baliffs because that would be illegal and you can call 999 and they would be arrested.
