  1. “*could slip back*”? It already has slipped. It’s not at Victorian levels – yet – but it’s well on the way. The middle>>>upper middle classes have gained aplenty. The lower working classes have lost out considerably. Hence the gap and it’s only getting wider.

  2. We have already. I know there’s always a delay with news , but they’re about 5 years out of date.

  3. “could slip back” suggests that the Tories have not already overseen the gap increasing between the rich and poor over the past 13 years. That is their signature move.

  5. Is this headline trying to imply that things will improve because right now the gap between the richest and poorest is bigger than the Victorian age.
