Are all of you familiar with the 1984 film and Michael Ende novel The Never-ending Story? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_NeverEnding_Story_(film).
It was a German- American production. I don’t think it was that popular in the USA at the time, but had grown in popularity over the years.
Was it and is it still popular in Germany and Western Europe? I know you can see “ Falcor” in the film studio in Munich.
With all the 80s reboots, I am happy they have left TNES untouched.

Very widely known and loved in Germany with frequent re-runs. Michael Ende was a very influencial child book author back in the days (Jim Knopf, Momo, Unendliche Geschichte, Der satanarchäolügenialkohöllische Wunschpunsch, …).
I don’t know about the current younger generation, but everybody in the 80ies and 90ies knew that film. And the book was and still is a classic.
BTW, his name is Fuchur, it was just changed in the English version because they can’t pronounce it without letting it sound like a slur.
Love the book, hate the movie.
Part 3 was filmed in Potsdam, Filmstudio Babelsberg. “Fuchur” (as Falcor is called in Germany) was on display there too, together with lots of other props.

They’d have to cut off the oracle’s nipples.
Well, a sigle movie can’t do the source material any service. A mini series might do the trick.
My favorite childhood movie
Fuchur in German.
My old fire department named our truck Fuchur so it would bring good luck on all our calls…
Yes, it is still known but I don’t think the movie has been *really* influential in Germany. True, a generation grew up with it but it’s not like the film was a must-see for generations to come. The book is still read, and I guess when being told the title many people would think of the book not of the movie.
However, Michael Ende is very well-known even today and still one of Germany’s most popular childbook authors. And some of his other novels like *Jim Button* (German: *Jim Knopf*, for younger children) or *Momo* are even more famous than *The Neverending Story*. I checked sales ranks and they confirm this.
