If this doesn’t sink his premiership I don’t know what will.
There is a real danger here because I think this doesn’t matter and many people are distracted by it. I don’t mean it doesn’t matter to me. I mean anyone who would vote for such an obvious liar and cheat 3 years ago, won’t drop him now because getting caught lying for the 1493rd time is suddenly the deal breaker. So instead of talking about tax rises, inflation, COVID mishandling, the NHS collapse, the spiraling public debt or falling pensions, we are fanning the flames of distraction.
This guy is teflon. Nothing will sink him. The Met won’t investigate, even if they did it would be a waste of tax payer money as they will find him innocent. This government has become ludicrous, but, frankly, who cares anymore. Not like anyone, the press or public will hold them to account. It’s not worth getting upset over anymore. It is shouting at clouds.
Angela Rayner and Keir Starmer shouldn’t do the old “it’s disgusting when will he resign” stuff, they should get some family stories from around that time from people who lost loved ones and couldn’t say goodbye, they should explain to the public how people were having to suffer all that while those bastards in downing st were having a good old piss up together.
The only reason he is still there is nobody wants his job just yet.
The Tories will wait until this wave of omicron is subsiding then blame as much as possible on him and throw him under the bus and start getting the country familiar with a new face. This stuff is all being targeted at Boris and his circle, not enough at the conservatives in general.
I hope it doesn’t fool voters come the next election. People need to remember all those that enabled Boris and all that he has lied his way through.
They’ll just try and dump this all on Reynolds and move on. The police really need to act this time, it’s clear cut rules were broken. Ultimately Johnson is responsible for letting it go on. My only hope is that the media continue to parallel the huge sacrifices and losses the public made and this sticks in public consciousness. The cynic in me says fuck all will change.
Is there a comprehensive list of all the blunders of the Johnson era?
“Yes but we are the party that delivered brexit, while Labour rejected it” is the argument that will see them through any shitstorm.
If I’d had a party with 40 people in my back garden, I’d have been arrested and fined 10k. I want to see Boris dragged in handcuffs from Downing St and fined like a pleb like me would have been. And make him pay it himself. Maybe he’ll have to sell a few rolls of wallpaper.
Will we hear about the BYOW after party or are we all bothered by the BYOB garden bit?
