“Is there anyone I really wouldn’t want in the draw? Absolutely not. Now the draw will be tougher but I don’t want to see long faces, I want to see smiles because finished the group unbeaten. Tonight we tried, we wanted to win and we didn’t succeed.
We are very happy with the qualification and the group, clearly we should have made better use of the opportunities. I’m happy, we knew we had to suffer. We didn’t concede anything to Real Sociedad, we covered the pitch very well. Credit to Real Sociedad.
Too much rotation? We’re in December, Lautaro and Barella have already played a lot. They entered the match and gave their best.
Last year after finishing second in the group, we reached the final. Tonight we wanted to win but our opponents did well.
I am very satisfied with the team. Rotations? There is a need. We are in December and we want to make it to June in the best conditions, some had to rest.
Arnautović and Sánchez? I am satisfied, it is normal that they cannot be in better condition because they have played less. They will grow even more but I’m satisfied tonight.
I complimented the boys on the group. Clearly we wanted to win but there was a very strong opponent. We did much better than in the first leg, conceded nothing to them and had the best opportunities. I have nothing to tell the boys, Real Sociedad plays very good football.
Physical problems for Thuram? No, it was a technical choice. I would have waited another 10 minutes but in the first half he had worked a lot. So I decided to change him too.
I probably would have removed Cuadrado if I had had Dumfries and Pavard. But he gave me great availability and I thank him, he played 95 minutes against a very difficult opponent.
This is an evening of happiness, of going through the group stage undefeated. We are all happy, clearly we wanted to finish first but there was a worthy opponent. In the first leg they deserved it, tonight we deserved more. But Sociedad also gave Real Madrid and Barcelona difficult problems.
Is Inter exaggerating in their demand to win every match? You know it’s part of the game, we’re doing very well but we have to continue. For now I have nothing to say to the boys, they’re doing a great job.
We had two very important objectives which were qualification to the round of 16 and reaching the Club World Cup. They were both achieved.”

“Real Sociedad did well, without creating many chances but without allowing many chances- they are strong and technical. Now the draw will be tough, we will find excellent teams but we are also an excellent team! We will come up against the best of the best, we knew it would happen sooner or later and now it will be in the round of 16.
Am I always physically at the top? I try to live a healthy life and be strong in training, always giving myself great motivation.”
Carlos Augusto’s words:
“We did well dealing with Takefusa Kubo, it was a tough match. For me, it’s good to play more than one role, I’m always available to help the team. We did well in defence, we could have been cleaner up front, even from myself partly, because we wanted to win the group. Later we’ll think about the Champions League, we have until February. Now let’s focus on the league.”
Marcus Thuram’s words:
“Tonight was like the ‘final’ of the group, we wanted to win but Real Sociedad played a great match. Regardless, we are happy because we are in the round of 16. We played a good match against a great team, this is the level of the Champions League. All the matches are tough and tonight was tough. The draw? We’ll see, all teams are tough. For now let’s move on to the league.
I think it was a good Champions League match, Real Sociedad is a beautiful team. Lazio? Another Champions League team, we’ll need a great performance in the league.
Do I prefer the league or the Champions League? I always play to win.”

“Today’s match was along the lines of the first match, we did better today but they are strong, they know how to play the ball. We saved ourselves a bit in the first half to come out strong in the second half, but that’s how it went. Now we’ll go with our heads held high to play against anyone.
We are Inter and we have the duty to win with everyone, even with the big teams. A difficult draw is an extra motivation. Now let’s think about the league and maintaining first place.

Lautaro’s words were a nice declaration of love towards Inter. We’re dealing with a real captain, he wants to continue with us and these are important premises. I can say that it will be an easy renewal and that he will respect the balance of the group. Within a month? I hope even sooner!
