As with Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia in removing Soviet era monuments: Bulgarian authorities tore down the ‘Monument to the Red Army’, in Sofia – it was built in 1954. Since 1990 Bulgarians debated what to do with it.

Russia says “Bulgaria is on the wrong side of history and that Bulgaria will face consequences”.
