[Here’s the news update from yesterday](https://www.iamexpat.de/expat-info/german-expat-news/german-dual-citizenship-law-delayed-again-after-fdp-standoff) regarding German’s dual citizenship changes.

The article states:

>According to the *dpa*, the main point of contention between the FDP and Greens is about an amendment related to withholding citizenship to non-EU residents in Germany who have previously claimed [unemployment benefits](https://www.iamexpat.de/expat-info/social-security/unemployment-benefits-germany-arbeitslosengeld) such as ***Arbeitslosengeld*** or *Bürgergeld*.

I’ve been living in Germany for more than 9 years and currently receiving Arbetslosengeld (for several months) due to lay offs and a crisis in tech job market which makes it way more difficult to get a new job as quickly as before.

I was going to apply for citizenship, does it mean I won’t be eligible anymore?
