So from what I understand, most Tukrish Cypriots feel at least somewhat Turkish, while most Greek Cypriots feel Cypriot. IMO it was best said by the old gentleman: If we keep insisting on Greek/Turkish Cypriot, we will split this island.
“They dont make any concessions, they’re not giving anything” WHAT MORE,WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM US? ah man i feel like us greeks are the jews version 2.0, we gave everything and still call us greedy. fucking hell,we are out of middle east, out of north africa, out of anatolia, out of crimea, out of albania, out of bulgaria.what else do you fucking want from us?
I trust the Greek Cypriots. Although I am a Greek Cypriot so I might be biased
I think that most people in both communities want to get along and join together. There are the far right elements in both sides that want continued division, and there are states like Turkey and Russia that want continued division, but (turkish settlers aside) if GCs and TCs meet face to face, they realise there is much more we have in common and we need that feeling to grow in order to ease any fears that both communities will have. Culture aside, the financial boom that would happen would be a plus for both communities. Let’s hope for the best for the future, but be cautious of the nationalist sabre rattling in the meanwhile.
