Belgium targets lower-income expats in new tax regime

  1. That’s a good thing.

Imagine being offered 250€/day rate for a job that should be around 600-700, because it’s clearly aimed to expat’ who would avoid any tax.

But that’s still not far enought. Nobody should elude tax.

  2. > The current regime, which dates back to a 1983 executive order, was declared illegal on multiple points by the country’s Court of Audit as early as 2002. The court reasserted its position in 2014, including its concern that the regime was never approved by lawmakers and therefore lacked a legal basis.

So the current ruling has been illegal for 19 years, yet they just kept on doing it anyway?

Also `executive order`, shouldn’t that be `royal decree`? Unless we’ve got some rogue Belgian president who’s been instituting new laws, that’d explain quite a bit.

  3. At what point will a government ever say “ok we get enough taxes now, this should be enough to run a country “?
