Sorry if this post is not entirely on topic but I was watching the slam dunk anime and film – the first slam dunk and I couldn’t help but notice the similarities between Ancelotti and the the coach Anzai from the shohoku basketball team. They both are cuddly lovable coaches who are always calm and have excellent method of man management and belief in the team working with available resources despite the obstacles thrown to the way.
They are both accommplished as a player and coach and have a philosophy of trusting their players instead of being obsessed with tactics using the players skills to get the best out of the team. What’s more coach Anzai believes in never giving up and that leads to the shohoku team a group of high school players to national glory against the odds. This got me very emotional and reminded me of our special UCL winning campaign in 21/22 the amazing comebacks and never give up attitude. It hit me hard even more when Carlo said in a post match interview that he never lost faith in the team and not once did he think about giving up despite being down – ( against city ).
This may seem surface level but if you watch the anime the similarities are even greater and more nuanced than my explanation. Anyways I hope you have a good day and apologies if it is off topic.
