Greetings r/london!

With just one week to go until Christmas we wanted to highlight the excellent work of [Streets Kitchen](https://www.streetskitchen.org/), a grassroots group run entirely by volunteers that works directly on the streets providing daily outreaches of hot food, clothing and information for the homeless community across London. Their work is particularly vital for those who may not engage with more formal services and therefore might “slip through the cracks”.

This year [their winter appeal is trying to raise £30,000](https://www.streetskitchen.org/2023/11/urgent-winter-appeal) to help keep Streets Kitchen’s essential services operating via their team of volunteers supporting the most vulnerable people in London, in the cold of December and beyond. Without donations, Streets Kitchen can’t pay for hot food or sleeping bags or basic toiletries – they feed approximately 500 people each week, but with rising costs of everything from energy to cutlery and plastic bags, they’re entirely reliant upon donations to help to continue to be there for those most in need.

For those unable to stand in solidarity with homeless people by donating money, consider [giving your time as a volunteer](https://www.streetskitchen.org/volunteering) at one of the multiple outreaches [across 8 London boroughs](https://www.streetskitchen.org/locations/london).

Thank you, and Merry Christmas!
