Germany to speed up green energy projects in ‘gigantic’ effort

  1. Nice headline, lacks depth (new government so maybe not surprising). A report with numbers showing what will be achievable by year will be interesting.

  2. Germany needs to become “more efficient and faster” in the fight against climate change, Green party minister Habeck said, as he unveiled an ambitious package of measures to help make Europe’s top economy carbon neutral by 2045.

Among the most eye-catching proposals was the pledge to set aside two percent of Germany’s land surface for wind energy projects, up from around 0.5 percent currently.

  3. It is good and right that climate protection is now in a different ministry than environmental protection. Especially locally, there are often conflicting goals.

  4. They’re currently trying to hold us (NL) to old contractual obligations to supply them with more LNG than they originally planned to buy, as they’re failing to make enough power. This knowing that we’ve ceased production because it has been causing earthquakes and damage to people’s housing all over Groningen. This is good and all, but what they’re mostly doing is just using more imported fossil fuels?
