That’s a post election change if I’ve ever seen one
Rule 1: don’t upset the ould ones

“Good luck everybody else!”
Well this is fuckin stupid
Found all the under 70s !!!
If applicable countries see a decrease in road accidents in that age group compared to Ireland. The government will have blood on their hands for wanting to stay in power …
When wokeism gets in the way of safety
I wonder if there’s any data on accidents and age and it there’s some sort of correlation.
Government unwritten slogan
Feed the old, eat the young”.
My ma is over 60 and tbh she shouldn’t be doing anything
>The European Commission proposal centred around some motorists having to undergo regular medical tests and refresher courses to renew their driving licence, which critics say would impact older drivers disportionately.
That feels like saying “New age restrictions on e-cigarettes would disproportionately impact teenagers.”
Joke

We built this country. Fucking young ones wanting me to retest. On their bloody bikes.
Is this because a number of them didn’t actually pass it in the first place, but were gifted their license?
I would be more in favour of everyone having to test again every 5/10 years. Coming back to Ireland, it baffles me that still nobody indicates, nobody knows how to use a roundabout or a motorway.
Anyone operating heavy machinery at high speed should be required to revalidate their competence *at least* every ten years
I’m yet to see a driver in Ireland over the age of 70 who should be behind the wheel. I actually find it suspicious that there isn’t available data for crashes caused by elderly drivers.
Insanity that you don’t have to retest already. I passed my test when I was 20 can you imagine how much driving has changed since a a now 70 Yr old got their license at 20.
The cowardice of politicians never ceases to shock me.
Doesn’t matter … soon no one will be allowed to drive a private vehicle anyway …
FFS
Exchanged my license from a country where driving conditions are wildly different.
I would have no issue taking an age based test here as long as everyone else has the same rules
“Vision zero” ….. my arse. RSA dropping the ball again.
Half the population done a theory test, a certified expensive number of lessons, a tough test, followed by years of restrictions.
Other half bought their licence and are technically the most dangerous people behind the wheel.
Remember this when they want to half the speed limits for ‘safety’.
My granny is undisputed evidence that retesting should be mandatory
boomer vroomers
I don’t agree with this at all. Working with older people, especially those with early stage dementia it’s SCARY how long they stay driving when they really should not be.
My uncle in Florida was driving a Hummer 2 weeks after having a major stroke that nearly killed him. A couple of years later he’s still very aphasic but has recently traded in the hummer for a saloon, thanks be to jaysus. They’ve no real controls over the elderly in that state.
what about all the people who never had a test, got the license handed in the 70s, because of the massive backlog? no decent driving skills and now elderly.
I wouldn’t trust anyone over 70 with a shopping trolley
