How big does the object have to be for TFL to halt the tube and remove it ?

  1. The tracks on the underground section of the tube are quite deep, so the train will likely just go over it. But I wouldn’t chance it if I saw that there.

  2. The empty the suicide pit last Thursday of every month.

  3. I’ve seen them remove small items like wallets or once a glove.

The process is to halt the next train at the end of the platform then retrieve the item before it draws in.

I’m totally assuming the retrieving employee is fully trained for access to live track.

  4. It has to either be at risk of causing damage to the train or other infrastructure – (this scooter is in the pit so is clear of under train dragging risks) – or at risk of encouraging unauthorised track access – (such as a high value item like an iPhone, visible from the platform).

  5. Somewhere between the size of the scooter and the size of the kid riding it, evidently.
