This makes me wonder how young people can vote Tory whilst living in mum and dad’s basement. We need to stop voting in a party artificially increasing property prices which only ever benefit the old and decrepid economically inactive people and their rich mates.

It all makes very little difference. The government & opposition have committed to 300k homes per year. That is a city the size of Leeds each year. That would house just about the net migration population each year. Migrants need homes immediately as they arrive. Not like natural population increases where you can plan ahead 20 years based on birth rate. We need to build more like 500,000-600,000 per year.
The economics of that are
– Development land increases in price
– Materials increase in price
– Labour increases in price
House prices continue to rise.
After that the discussion turns to environment, water, food security, happiness etc etc.
We have a demand issue that supply cannot fix.

House builders: we want to build 500 homes with the structural integrity of wet pasta and no accompanying infrastructure on a flood plain.

They are building some where I live and I kid you not the front doors to the houses are like 2 meters from a road where the speed limit is like 50. And in that 2 meters you’ve got the footpath. No chance to park a car…Unless they intend to move the road later something very stupid has occurred.
