Maybe if people weren’t expected to work insane hours and women weren’t treated like shit people would be more willing to get together and have families?
Now to get every other country to follow suit so we can actually do something meaningful to help Co2 levels.

i’m korean-american and i’ve been hearing about population decline in the east asian countries for a while. i’ve actually kind of warmed up to the idea that i will be part of a shrinking ethnicity.
i have a very dark, cynical sense of humor and kinda chuckle at the idea of future asian american generations fighting to have target schools consider race/ethnicity in college applications again when asians become rarer sightings (i’m just dicking around).

Youth of Korea is expected to obey their elders without questions so to enrich their pocket.
Result? “Sure, grandpa. You want us younger generations to kill ourselves to make you rich? You want us to marry and have kids? It ain’t gonna happen while you overwork us to death.”
Great, this is 100% natural. Their are too many people. Once the population density gets beyond a certain point and the quality of life goes below a certain point, and the environment is collapsing, the population should have less babies.
Most South Koreans are arguably slaves, for the amount they are driven to work. Hardly any childhood is more depressing than a typical South Korean. The most humane thing would be not to propagate more slaves to feed the engine of late capitalism.
The developed world needs to fix its birth rate problems. This isn’t good.
I mean they know exactly how to fix this, but since the government is essentially just the chaebols and their surrogates it will never happen.
