As a Bulgarian, I remember that after 10.11.1989 the single most important amendment to the constitution was the abolition of Article 1 which dictated the permanent leading role of the Communist party in the state apparatus. To see a country (even if it’s Russia we’re talking about where all this totalitarian shit came from) slide back into totalitarianism like that is like watching a monster known only from legends come to life.

  10. Putin loves to exploit the USSR nostalgia and a large part of Russian citizens still respond to it. It’s the equivalent of rallying to make Russia “great again”. I think labeling it as cosplay, as shown in the video is a good way to describe it cause it’s nothing more than that.

    Russia wants to be the same level it was, as the USSR. Taking back Soviet republics would put its population from 146 to 290 million, it is a substantial jump.
