  1. >She quickly embraced Western ways, including shedding her headscarf and dating a young man of her choice. In one social media post, she and her Pakistani boyfriend were shown kissing on a street in the regional capital, Bologna. According to Italian investigators, that kiss enraged Abbas’ parents, who wanted her to marry a cousin in Pakistan. Abbas had reportedly told her boyfriend that she feared for her life, because of her refusal to marry an older man in her homeland.

Cannot imagine why she refused to leave Italy for Pakistan and marry her older cousin to please her parents. /s

  2. > Pakistani

    There it is

Honour killings are probably the biggest load of theological bullshit humans have come up with. It (like many others) is just a religious license to be an asshole

  3. Family terrorists. They force women to wear Hijab to protect them but kill them over taking it off or refusing to obey. F THESE FAMILY TERRORISTS

  4. Imagine how often this happens in Pakistan and never prosecuted. Parents probably get status.

  5. It’s a common thing in Pakistan where they abduct girls from other religions, forcefully convert them and then marry them off to their kidnapper.

  6. We have had several high profile “honor” killings in Canada but we refuse to label them as such for fear of being culturally insensitive

  7. What a shitty religion. Hopefully ALL Muslims condemn the parents, otherwise they are part of the problem. Do away with forced hijabs, arranged marriage, and advocate women equality.

  8. Pakistan and it’s obsession with cousin marriage never cease to amaze me.

  9. How could ANYONE kill their child, for any reason. Hope they rot in the worst hell possible

  10. How much of this is a part of Pakistani culture and how much of it is part of religion?

  11. What a fucking horrible way to live. Not even a one off for that culture. We’ve had very similar cases here in the US also.

We have zero obligation to take in, accommodate, or even tolerate people with those fucked up beliefs. I don’t see how that’s even controversial. I hope they throw the book at these sick fucks. Rot in Hell.

  12. Yet its wrong to speak out against Islam and its supporters.

  13. … and that’s the type of people you want in your country?

  14. Religion of “peace.” So long as you’re not a woman, a Jew, or gay.

  15. Thers is also a movie with same storyline “what will people say ” a common line used in southasia by parents to guilt trip their children.

  16. Lot of Islamophobia here but it’s worth pointing out that there’s also a massive feminicide issue in Italy among ethnic Italians as well, including honor killings well into the 20th century. Statutes allowing leniency for those found guilty of honour killings were only removed from the criminal code in the late 80s.

  17. Weird, the only thing my family brought with them from the old country was Catholicism and a predisposition to alcoholism.

  18. Honor killings were a problem in Italy even before immigration.

Just saying, since in the comments there’s the Islam debate once again.
