Dude was encouraged to run, he could have “took the money and ran”. But he stayed to bouy the peoples’ resolve, despite have Russian special forces out to kill him.
Good for him beating a comedian as the best political figure.

From outsiders perspective, I think he has done a fantastic job protecting Ukraine from clutches of Putin.
Putin expected easy victory after he had a taste of annexing Crimea. He hoped to repeat it again by swallowing the country in whole under false pretext of “protecting” against Nazi and to prevent it from joining NATO and EU.
Much to Putin’s chagrin, his grand plan to expand Russian influence have so far failed miserably, he himself became wanted person after international warrant was issued against him, exposed Russian military as incompetent, lost flagship of Black Sea Fleet, Moskova, attempted to blackmail West with weaponization of energy and oil that backfired and hobbled Russian economies due to Western sanctions.
All this because Zelensky proved to be formidable opponent that Putin didn’t expect.
Most people probably can’t name another. I can’t.
Ugh. On Reddit reading “most trusted Ukranian political figure” instinctively makes me think someone is being sarcastic
Seems like a good man caught in a terrible situation doing the best his can for his people. The weight he feels must almost overwhelming.
It’s a very low bar.
Who was he competing against? *not* Putin?
The only other Ukrainian political figure I know is that guy that let of hand grenades in that council meeting
He has successfully turned Ukraine into a single party state… we like him because Putin is a murdering bully, but I honestly can’t help thinking that unchecked he would become a porr man’s Putin. It’s the brave Ukrainian people fighting and dying for Their country, he just flys around asking for money.
