I had my stag do on York a few months ago. On the second day, walking off the first hangover, we found a shop selling second hands bits and pieces. They were selling old costumes cleared from an old play or a closed down theatre or something. We found knights costumes! We fought! Perfect! We shall all be Knights Templar for tonight’s piss up!
Many drinks later, someone walks up to us at the pub “are you dressed as the KKK?!” I assumed he was taking the piss “hahaha yeah mate, we’re KKK”… more and more people start walking up “why are you dressed as the f***ing KKK?!” We realise people aren’t joking…the atmosphere in the pub turned and we had to get the hell out of there because we were about to get beaten up.
Now bare in mind, there is only one white person in our party and he’s Jewish. Also bare in mind, out of these costumes they are various colours, red, black etc. Only the one I’m wearing is a white cloak, it doesn’t have a pointed hood or anything. Nothing about these costumes, or the people wearing them say KKK. Also, you know, wrong country. If anyone still remembers that we’re not America.
So we assume it’s a weird pub with particularly paranoid people and walk on to the next stop. Then other people stop us in the street “Why are you dressed as the KKK?!” We don’t joke the time, we explain that we are obviously dressed as knights, they don’t believe us! Again we have to escape a near fight.
We’re refusing to take off the costumes, because not all of us how much on under our tunics and we’re being stubborn because it’s ridiculous and we’re drunk. The whole bloody knight, people are stopping us, sometimes understanding when we explain that we’re knights and sometimes getting very angry and refusing to believes that we weren’t KKK.
So that was a fun Knight.

>Now bare in mind
You thinking about naked people again?
Sounds like they wanted a fight and were trying to find an excuse to have one.
Or, they were part of the EDL and were trying to subtly recruit you without being open about their allegiance. This is less likely since it requires a level of subtlety the EDL lacks.
So you were mistaken for KKK in multiple places, that says a lot more about what your costume looks like than what you describe
Pics required.
Were you Knights Templar looking? Did that meme series, Deus Vult?, end up being very right affiliated.
I mean, people these days who are fans of the Knights Templar and the KKK have a lot in common…
A lot of racists have the Knights Templar all over their Facebook pages.
Hate it when that happens
I wouldn’t have assumed you were dressed up as the KKK but I don’t know what the two hoods looked like. I also think people thought the cross on the black cape is a nazi symbol because I’m sure there is actually a Nazi symbol of that cross.
Nice of Fred Dibnah and Francis Begbie (as Guy Fawkes) to have their picture taken with you.
The guy pointing in the big hat is a ‘character’ saw him on Come Dine With Me. A ghost tour guide isn’t he?
I mean you look absolutely fuck all like the KKK 😂😂
>Also, you know, wrong country. If anyone still remembers that we’re not America.
Bit of a daft thing to say. Racist groups aren’t required to stay in one country.
It doesn’t look like KKK to me, I wouldn’t give it a second glance tbh.
The Maltese Cross has been co-opted by the far right – usually the Knights Templar version (red cross, white background) in England but the Knights Hospitaler version (white cross, black background) will confuse people.
Not sure how that connects your party to the KKK, mind. You’re obviously not the KKK.
> Nothing about these costumes, or the people wearing them say KKK.
Only if you’ve been living under a rock
Not realising there’s a problem after the 5th time you get stopped kinda pins the blame on you
Sounds like York should have gone to Specsavers.
You didn’t even look remotely like the KKK. Wtf is people’s problem? Also as you said, KKK is an American thing
I can see it…
Lmao, after seeing that picture i’m wondering if you’ve drunkenly remembered the wrong details or if york is just full of people who have no idea what the fuck they’re talking about.
people are ignorant morons – so many of them in this day and age of everything being offensive and or traumatising to some fucker or other, don’t worry about them.
You OKKK hun?
What is England coming to if a man can’t dress as a member of a medieval knight/financier/crusader/possible-Grail-holding organisation
Which pub was it, if you don’t mind my asking?
(You also don’t look at all like the KKK)
…Alrightie then—
They’re extremely ignorant, idiots, or wanted to start a fight for the hell of it. Not even close to an actual KKK uniform.
Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition
I’d tell em to fuck off for being idiots. Unless they seemed idiotic enough to pull a knife or something
It’s not the first place my mind went when I saw it. But it’s York..
>Now bare in mind, there is only one white person in our party
Pic says nope. Looks all white on the Knight.
