Hello guys.
To keep the story short, I am from Serbia, and I have a question for you: who is European parliament member Vladimir Bilčik?
He has been fervently trying to hide cases of corruption and scandals in my country in front of the European Parliament for YEARS. I won’t get into listing all the cases, but during the past couple of years, I have noticed him specifically trying to make our terrible government seem way, way better than it is by attempting to influence various reports and intentionally closing his eyes to the rampant degradation of democracy in Serbia.
The last straw was during the last few days when he said that the latest Serbian elections went smoothly and there were no issues. Meanwhile, all other international observers and members of the European Parliament have stated that these elections were everything except regular and democratic- something that is true in Serbia for years and everyone here knows it.
So my question is- who is this guy, and what is his interest for advocating for this autocratic regime?
Please help a Serbian guy out. Thanks!
EDIT: Someone asked for some examples of the things he said. It is difficult to find non-Serbian sources and news coverage, but here are a few news articles specifically about him:
Comments about recent elections: [https://europeanwesternbalkans.com/2023/12/19/growing-concerns-of-international-community-over-regularity-of-serbian-elections/](https://europeanwesternbalkans.com/2023/12/19/growing-concerns-of-international-community-over-regularity-of-serbian-elections/)
Attempts to hide huge scandals in Serbia, I can only find a Serbian version of the article, but I guess you can translate it: [https://n1info.rs/vesti/sta-je-sve-vladimir-bilcik-pokusao-da-sakrije-u-izvestajima-o-srbiji/](https://n1info.rs/vesti/sta-je-sve-vladimir-bilcik-pokusao-da-sakrije-u-izvestajima-o-srbiji/)
And he also met with state-controlled Telekom Srbija HQ a day before trying to remove the amendments in his report that speak of the corruption and media domination of the company: [https://n1info.rs/english/news/nova-bilcik-met-with-telekom-kurir-reps/](https://n1info.rs/english/news/nova-bilcik-met-with-telekom-kurir-reps/)
As a note, all the scandals mentioned in the second article are really serious and huge scandals that he has systematically been trying to exclude from some of the reports.

Does not really match with what I know about his views… when/where did he say what you claim?
This is interesting. I barely know about him, but judging by his allegiances, hopes are he could be one of the good ones.
We could perhaps relay this post/question directly to him through FB/IG, not sure if he has reddit.
Edit: But yes, sources, citations are needed first. This sounds too general and not backed up.
