One step at a time is probably the right way to address this. I agree with Colorado’s decision but this is the sort of thing that can go too far too quickly, we should be careful
My hope is that once they can set the precedent with Dump, the rest will start to fall like dominoes.
But so many hopes have died on the vine over the last 8 years.
If the Supreme Court rules against Trump it is almost certain lawsuits against other candidates or even current politicians will be filed.
Basically the entire Republican Party. It’s more important now than ever to vote against them at every level. Federal, state, local. Every school board, mayor, community commission. Republicans no longer care about protecting democracy. They are fascists in suits and will intentionally hurt every group of people they can with their backwards policies.
Ban its members from political office, bar them from entering any government building
This should have been done long ago, like January 7th. We had nearly 4 years to bring it up and I feel like the timing couldn’t be any worse – less than a year before the election (Better late than never, I guess).
They aren’t stopping with Trump, they are starting with him. If the SC holds this up, then there will definitely be others.
Yes for political reasons they have stalled this till it will be almost impossible for the Republicans to get a majority among themselves behind another candidate. Trump is going down and some rats will follow. But it should of happened faster.
We haven’t even got Trump yet. One domestic lunatic at a time.
Agreed. Everyone who broke the law needs to face the law. Otherwise, what is the point?
When four people commit an armed robbery, they go after all four, including the schmo in the car who is the getaway driver.
Conservatives tried to pull of the biggest armed robbery of all. They ALL need to be brought to justice.
Every GOP politician who voted to delay counting the electoral college ballots was in on the conspiracy. These weren’t individuals voting their conscience, it was collaborative criminal behavior.
Let’s drain the swamp!!
Ted Cruz. Ron Johnson. Mike Johnson. Hawley. Jordan. EmptyG. Gohmert. Geatz. To name a few.
If the doj doesn’t indict everyone involved with planning and carrying out the January 6 insurrection, the people involved are marks for foreign intelligence because these people have demonstrated a willingness to carry out illegal acts up to the point of domestic terrorism.
I love osint psychometrics!
Why the hell isn’t Ginny Thomas in jail?
Oh right – total corruption of our democracy thanks to traitorous republicans and billionaire influence in politics
> Lake brought an Arizona State University student onto her legal team.
> **Jessica Banks, a second-year law student** from Montana, **handled the anti-SLAPP law argument.**
I hope this means nobody is still funding Lake’s insanity and she’s just left to her own finances to sit and spin.
It isn’t about the insurrection, it’s about the election next year
trump is the most immenent threat. Also much easier to charge a single individual. I think there may be additional charges laid if/when trump is convicted. We need convictions to send the message this is not ok. trump getting jailed will be a better deterrent than trying to wrap up mtg, who is obviously off her rocker.
You’ve got to cut the head off the snake first. Not only because Trump really, really deserves it, but the precedent that would set would be damn near iron clad.
Honestly, the fact of the insurrection is Hawley.
Literally on the cover of Time magazine.
How is that guy still allowed to hold office?
I fully expect follow on charges in both J6 and Georgia. Trump is the main target, and you have to start there.
Is Colorado based Boebert ineligible now too?
Donno how you guys are taking this seriously. Trump is looking like a real possibility by the day.
Frankly this whole situation is old and tiresome to me. There are more important things to worry about, like an eminent world war, unbearably high inflation, a housing crisis, and rampant crime.
Because Merrick Garland is not willing to have his fellow Republicans call him “Political” no matter how actually Political refusing to honor his Oath really is.
No one is “stopping” with Trump but you have to START somewhere.
Ginni Thomas needs some eyes on her involvement in Jan 6
Exactly, plenty of other people swore the oath of office and helped plan Jan 6th.
Cant wait to see this used to ban local democrat mayors(and whoever else) from office in red states.
If telling people to be peaceful and go home is insurrection… Then the republicans can just claim any statement is an act of insurrection and ban every democrat from local, state and federal office. After all… you democrats keep saying “He DoEsNt HaVe To Be CoNvIcTeD oF iNsUrReCtIoN tO bE rEmOvEd FrOm ThE bAlLoT”. If you get your way via the supreme court… then we’ll all be roasting popcorn on the cherry red coals of blue cities burning.
Yall can do the same, but there are no red cities in blue states… only rural districts that dont care what liberal NIMBYs think. Also most states are red… so good luck with having a blue federal senator ever again.
All of the reps who voted against certifying should be charged.
No one ever said Trump would be the only one on trial. Once the precedent is set, every one of those traitorous a holes is in the crosshairs
It felt like Flynn.
Literally everyone who voted to overturn the election should have been immediately disqualified from running for office.
He will rat every single one of them the first time he is cornered.
Fascism is a hydra, not a dragon.
Yes. Please. We’ve been saying.
Fuck yes. More of this.
There are several dozen others who aided and abetted this insurrection *currently serving in the House and Senate.* Remove them from office, and bar them from holding elected office again.
No one has actually been charged for insurrection. Might wanna correct the headline
>”Yeah, I mean I speak, I spoke with the president last week. I speak with the president all the time. I spoke with him on January 6th. I mean I talk with President Trump all the time. And that’s, that’s, I don’t think that’s unusual. I would expect members of Congress to talk with the President of the United States when they’re trying to get done the things they told the voters in their district to do. I’m actually kind of amazed sometimes that people keep asking this question. Of course, I talk to the president all the time. I talked, like I said, I talked with him last week…
>Uh, I’d have to go, I’d, I, I, I spoke with him that day after, I think after. I don’t know if I spoke with him in the morning or not. I just don’t know. Uh, I’d have to go back and, I mean I don’t, I don’t, I don’t know, uh, that, when those conversations happened. But, um, what I know is that I spoke with him all the time.”
Jim Jordan.
Who has actually been charged and convicted of being an insurrectionist?
Or do we all just pretend they were?
Trump was never a real president
So let’s completely destroy democracy, cool!
14.3 only applies to those who have formerly sworn an oath to uphold the constitution. It deals with oath breakers essentially. Jan 6ers who had never sworn an oath to uphold the constitution are not accountable to 14.3 and can run for office without that impediment. It’s actually quite clever.
Why is Colorado the only state to have the courage to do the obvious??
I was thinking about this earlier when i heard the viking guy is running for congress.
