UK Gov complains the SG wasted money on this which could have been spent on other priorities, and are now determined to have it cost even more. Totally vindictive and mental. Not SG’s fault devolution has untested boundaries.
Side-note to all the ‘it would have split equalities law across the UK and that’s reserved’ folks – so did same-sex marriage.

Some say that it’s absurd to suggest that the UK Government’s recent interventions on Scottish policy have been in bad faith.
This is just silly.
Really fucking unpleasant little man.
That’s generally what happens when you win a case.
It’s just more of the same from Punch and Judy. Both parties love having a kick at the other becasue their supporters like it.
How many times does Alistair Jack have to say ” I fucking hate you jock upstarts ” before the nodding head unionists up here who agree with his actions catch on to the guy ?
How many government back of the hand slap downs have to occur until those agreeing with him realise the guy wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire ? He’s a tory, he hates them as much as any Nat voter.
But still, it always was that section of knee bent proud Brits who’d shed a tear of pride at the laird of the lands bark they were on the end of. Master knows best.
Why should the UK government have to pay its legal costs for a case brought by SG that it then lost?
Humza has a pretty good record and throwing money down the drain in stupid court cases in his short tenure anyway so he can add this to the bill.
The nationalist brain rot is evident in this post – if it were the other way around you would be demanding SG recoup legal costs from the UK.
Has untested boundaries? No. SG knew damn well which side of the boundaries this sat comfortably on and chose to do it anyway to play the victim card AGAIN. SG acted in bad faith and wasted money so they could play the “boohoo westminster bullied me” card at the election.
Fair enough. It was a colossal waste of money, and everyone knew it. The SG should act more responsibly.
The principle of seeking costs is that the wasted money should be at the cost of the person wasting it. It would be odd to take the position this was a pointless and irresponsible waste of money on the part or the Scottish govt but that (some of) costs should lie on UK govt.
(I’m not close enough to know if it was doomed and irresponsible or not – the point is just that it’s consistent to think the people bringing a weak case should bear whole costs)
What costs? Aren’t the lawyers involved in house?
And the opposition parties that supported the bill?
Can we claim back the cost of Brexit🇪🇺 from the Tories? Or the PPE scandal 😷maybe? They do like a bit of deflection those Tories w⚓s. 😁
For context the cheeky thieving bastards spent 200k on legal fees trying to prevent the Covid inquiry getting Bawface and Sunaks WhatsApps. Which they had deleted anyway.
If the UK really cared about not wasting money, why do they always waste money on the rich from the south-east of England all the damn time?
THINK, UK! THINK!
