No rush or anything. Also those 3 paid sick days that are meant to have kicked in for ‘early’ 2022. Could probably do with that around now too while they are looking at this stuff.
I would be glad for an additional day off, but I appreciate that those who this day is partly being made up for (healthcare staff etc) won’t get quite the dividend as us in cushy office jobs.
But the idea of a double St Patrick’s Day feels like a wasted day. It’s a Thursday this year, so the Friday is a write off work wise anyhow (you can burn an AL day if you really wanted).
April is Easter, May has a bank holiday as does June & August.
July?
Presume they are waiting for a time when cases are low. It seems like every time they suggest a date cases go up near that date
I was just wondering what happened to that new bank holiday.
They shut up pretty quick after their “thanksgiving” shite got laughed at.
Remember when it was supposed to be end of November, and then St. Brigid’s day?
Willing to bet that it keeps getting pushed until people forget about it
Why make decisions. Just wait until no one talks about it anymore. Thats how competent government works right?
Its still flawed in concept because a day to commemorate frontline staff and the work done during the pandemic will not be celebrated by those doing those jobs. They’ll still be working and serving those that sat on their hole or worked from home get another day off.
