I fucking love tea.

  1. I’m just sitting here with a cuppa and it kind of hit me all of a sudden. I knew I loved tea already, and whenever I have a particularly good cup – you know the ones that come along – the realisation dawns on me further, deeper, but no joke, every sup of tea I take induces a small but considerable wave of euphoria. I am not high or drunk, in fact I’m trying to keep alcohol to weekends these days and maybe that has something to do with it. But if you take tea for granted, or you suspect someone you know is doing so, wise up, and take stock, because a good cup of tea is one of life’s greatest pleasures. A cup of tea is a _treat_. Oíche mhaith daoibh go léir.

  2. It really hit me how settling tea can be. In ‘Legend’ (Kray Twins movie), when the missus gets bad news, she’s offered tea. The narrator goes on to say this doesn’t help but she’ll take a cuppa. I think in life when everything hits the fan, tea is just there to settle you.

  3. Sure didn’t the Lord himself climb down from the cross for a nice cup of tea before giving himself up for the world

  4. I’ve mainly been a coffee drinker for the last few years, but when I was hope over Christmas I had a cup of tea, first cup of tea I had had in I don’t even know how long, and ended up having a few cups over the Christmas. Have had two coffees since the start of the new year! But I also haven’t had any tea this year.

  5. I hear ya buddy. So how do you like it. I prefer Lyons but i would take a Barry’s with a little milk and no sugar. And most importantly, if its for 3 or more I am using the pot so i can offer to “heat that up for ya”

  6. “No,” Arthur said, “look, it’s very, very simple…. All I want… is a cup of tea. You are going to make one for me. Now keep quiet and listen.”
And he sat. He told the Nutro-Matic about India, he told it about China, he told it about Ceylon. He told it about broad leaves drying in the sun. He told it about silver teapots. He told it about summer afternoons on the lawn. He told it about putting the milk in before the tea so it wouldn’t get scalded. He even told it (briefly) about the East India Trading Company.

“So that’s it, is it?” said the Nutro-Matic when he had finished.

“Yes,” said Arthur. “That is what I want.”

“You want the taste of dried leaves boiled in water?”

    “Er, yes. With milk.”

    “Squirted out of a cow?”

“Well in a manner of speaking, I suppose…”

“I’m going to need some help with this one.”

  7. I’ve been stuck in one small room in Italy with covid for the last 9 days. With not a decent cupán tae in sight, I would murder for a big mug of golden, pot-brewed Barry’s with a dash of milk and half a teaspoon of sugar.

Coffee is nice too, and especially so here, but it’s just not the same as tea.

  8. I lived with my Mum before she died and for months after, when I made tea I made two cups by mistake. Even now, 12 years later, when I’m distracted or multitasking, I look down and I’ve made two cups. Always reminds me of her.

  9. How do you take your tea? American here and tea isn’t nearly as common. We drink Lyons Gold Blend or Barry’s most days. Got hooked on it when we were traveling over there.

  10. I’m a huge fan myself, I like coffee too, but tea doesn’t make me as jittery. I’ve been having boxes of Barry’s shipped over to where I live in New Mexico.

  11. I had a medical procedure a few weeks ago, and after it the nurses brought me a pot of tea and some toast. That tea was so comforting it brought tears to my eyes.

  12. There’s been some moments over the last 21 months where the first sip of tea was genuinely the best part of the day
