Wow that last 50k was fast. Other losses also considerable.
It’s like slipping into a nightmare and realizing that the pain, hunger, torment, blood, body pieces, the awful awareness of being nothing to anyone. They deserve this, for every child who has passed, every citizen that has witnessed destruction of their lives and the inhumanity of a people who absolutely do not give a flying rats ass about anything or anyone. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦 ♥️
Ukraine has no choice but to fight and fight and fight, until they win, or die trying.
The retribution the Russians will unleash on the Ukrainian people if they lose will be equal to or worse than Germany at the end of ww2
Well Russia’s imperial obsession has now gotten 350K Russian dead as well as many Ukrainians and others. What a pointless desire for power and empire.
Nielsen argues that Russia does this partly because it can be effective (Bakhmut) but also as a way to show to the west that Russia is committed to a long war and that it is futile to arm Ukraine. Nielsen then argues that this is a mistake on Russia’s part because it misunderstands the debate over western weapons to Ukraine and inadvertently strengthens the argument to send more weapons because it’s clear Russia isn’t stopping anytime soon. I did make this comment on the world news thread earlier but I thought I’d also post it here in light of hitting the 350k threshold.
Each day Russia’s armoured vehicles dwindle. It’s heartening that even if they mobilise masses of soldiers, they’ll have limited capability in protecting them and getting them to the front, let alone mounting armoured assaults.
They will be a spent force, it’s just a question of when and how much damage they achieve before that.
Putler seems to be unafraid of the consequences of capability depletion, banking on the security that the west would never invade and violate international laws like he does, and banking on being able to rebuild his armies once a refractory period of peace finally comes.
He rests sound in the knowledge that he can justify to his people the imperative to re-arm and sacrifice economically for the protection of the motherland. Thus condemning more Russians to serfdom in need of a powerful leader to protect them.
History repeats.
The only difference this time around is Russia won’t even need to win to guarantee protection from invasion, the west does that for them.
