Same area as other homophobic attacks in recent months ((granted it’s the Gay Village so has arguably the highest concentration of LGBT people in the area, but that’s a bit of a moot point)).
The Arcadian is at the top of that street and popular with all sorts of people, so it could’ve spilled out of there. Some of the other attack reports mentioned IIRC men in cars who were possibly targeting the attacks rather than it being “just a street altercation”.
Text reads _A woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
The 31-year-old is also suspected of a hate-related public order offence, having allegedly aimed homophobic abuse at the officer._
That doesn’t sound like the headline’s ‘homophobic attack’ to me. Surely there’s a distinction, as made in the text, between screaming ‘fucking lezzer’ during the course of assaulting someone, and assaulting someone _because_ of their sexuality?
obviously the details in the article are fairly scant, but how do you deduce the sexuality of an on-duty and in-uniform copper who is dealing with an assault/under assault?
