Not even gonna ask what a “Pub Surcharge” is – where is the extra £1.80 coming from?!

  1. 10% service charge which you might have to really dig deep to find.

  2. You appear to have paid £18 for a cheese and tomato salad.

  3. £17.95 x 1.1 (10% surcharge) = £19.745 (Which they round up to £19.75)

    £19.75 + £0.64 = £20.39

So they seem to have a 10% surcharge on all food, as well as a pub surcharge on top of that.

Someone who knows better than me can tell us what sort of trading standards this is breaking. Scummy as anything though.

  4. Did you maybe pay £1.80 for Tindle ™️ (VE)? | 136kcal

  5. Pretty sure, as with most pub apps, the homepage or menu pages have it stated that an *x% service charge* is automatically added to the bill, when ordering via mobile.

  6. Brewdog are a deceitful company.

As a way to reduce their costs but increase their marketing strategy they would headhunt senior strategy personnel and executives from other companies to come to an interview at Brewdog with an outrageous salary. Their interview assessment would be for the candidate to present a marketing strategy on what they think Brewdog should do as a company to grow, gain more market share, increase reputation etc.

After the interview, they would not hire the candidate but they would keep the presentation and use it in their business. This led to them being sued by loads of companies and people over the years. Just google “Brewdog sued” and they all come up. Scummy company.

  7. Obligatory fuck Brewdog but this is genuinely insane. £18 for a fucking salad, a 10% fee *on top* of that, and a 64p pub charge (whatever the fuck that is). No doubt the cheapest pint will be about £9.50 as well.

  8. Brewdog are scum on several levels.
    This is another small example.

  9. Surprises me people would actually go to brew dog for food, but to order a salad is especially strange.

  10. why would you ever go to a brewdog? they’re an awful company with a creep of a ceo

  11. The adding of all kind of surcharges that you don’t seem to be able to remove when ordering via an app is really annoying, especially when away on a work trip and the surcharges will not be reimbursed by the company.

  12. In the early days of the Brewdog empire I got chatting (unknowingly) to one of the owners outside one of their pubs in Glasgow.

What a cunt. I nearly got into a fight with the fucker.

  13. Delete this app. Brewdog is crap all round. Terrible beer.

EDIT – all those downvoting this comment, you have no taste and, in all probability, don’t like beer. Continue to pay for your massively overpriced salads and shite beer.

  14. They add a 10% tip automatically. You can remove this before you checkout👍 really don’t understand the “pub surcharge” though wtf it that

  15. I avoid Brewdog like the plague, pubs and shop cans/bottled beer.

  16. Brewdog have a default ‘Tip the team’ 10% that can be removed during the checkout process – It displays on the web browser but not on app checkout for some reason!

That’s where the £1.80 is coming from.

The tipping company (TipJar) is owned by the CEO of Brewdog Bars.

  17. Mate you got mugged even by London standards! haha

  18. You paid over £20 for a salad at a sit down restaurant?

  19. Huh, is the Pub Surcharge a London or England charge of some type?

I have the Brewdog app and just run-through the same order out of interest

( I am an EFP shareholder and Brewdog Cardiff is my closest location)

    Heritage salad – £12.45

Add Tindle (Whatever that is) – £4.25 (So £16.70)

    EFP Discount £1.67

    Total Cost – £16.53

***Random extra £1.50 charge, but no Pub Surcharge***

So I tried Brewdog Ealing on the app

    Heritage salad – £13.45

Add Tindle (Whatever that is) – £4.50

    EFP Discount £1.80

    Pub Surcharge £0.57

Total Cost – £18.34 **Including Random extra £1.60 charge**

I also tried it to collect from Ealing, atotal of £17.77. **No Pub Surcharge, but still with the random extra charge**

I couldn’t find any mention on the app for either charge.

  20. I have never seen such a pretentious list of ingredients.

  21. I work at a Brewdog. It’s a running joke internally that the app makes up its own prices. We don’t even know why but whenever someone questions it we just put their order through the till as it doesn’t play silly buggers then

  22. Wow. That’s so punk.

God Brewdog are a vile company
