  1. I wish intersnack would launch tayto in Germany. German crisps are shite, unless your ideal flavour is the barest hint of paprika

  2. Knew about Guinness..
    Everything else is new to me… damn

  3. Nice infographic, thanks for sharing.

    Capitalism results in this sort of thing a lot, most established companies are bought or by out others.

    Guiness was a surprise to me.

    Edit: guiness merged with another company to form Diageo

  4. More examples….

    * Jameson – Pernod Ricard (France)
    * Bushmills – Proximo Spirits (US)
    * Lyons Tea – Unilever (UK)
    * Jacobs – Danone (French)
    * Aer Lingus – IAG (UK/Spain)
    * Bailey’s – Diageo (UK)
    * Waterford Crystal – Fiskars (Finland)
    * Murphy’s Stout – Heineken (Netherlands)

    * National Lottery – FDJ (France)

  5. Is that really the imagery the Germans went with 🤣

  6. Not the sudacrem!! You were chosen to fix the cuts and pains not cause them!!

  7. This works both ways,plenty of Irish companies own “foreign” brands

  8. Its sad. Why cant Guiness be owned by Guiness? In Ireland? I mean its not as if it was in need of more brand visibility or investment was it?
    Ah well, there ~~Monopoly~~ Capitalism for you

    It works for them.

  9. Guinness was a staunchly Protestant firm, the one relative down the line donated £100,000 old money to the…UDR? UDF? Not the loyalist paramilitary, was a British regiment in the…1920s?

  10. That is so depressing, we’re whoring ourselves out to the highest bidder. What’s the biggest brand that is 100% Irish owned?

  11. Awwww shit! I have to boycott Sudocrem now too?
    Well f**k sake!

  12. How does Germany owns Tayto. This is so bizarre.

  13. Just because it’s owned by an foreign company it doesn’t mean it’s not Irish. I think key part is it made here .

  14. There’s an element here as to why I’m somewhat fine with MNCs HQing themselves in Ireland and even becoming Irish companies like Accenture, Orix etc. because so much of Irish industry has been pillaged by traditionally more advanced European economies.

    Vast majority of Irish whiskey industry is owned by the French, only reason there is now more independent distillers at all is because of John Teelings innovations in Cooley and his subsequent disciples.

    Irish brewing is basically entirely British or Dutch and Irish people are pathetic at supporting actual Irish brands (one of the worst in Europe for drinking micro-brewed beer, Irish micro-breweries sell more beer in Italy or Spain than Ireland).

  15. When we’ve sold enough of Ireland to be but strangers in it.
