  1. And zero protective measures anywhere. More disability and sickness and death to come!

  2. COVID was a nasty shock, and for vulnerable folk still presents issues, but with vaccination and palliatives, it’s no longer a particular threat, over and above e.g. flu.

  3. It’s a disgrace we aren’t locking down again. If only people weren’t so selfish and we didn’t have plague rats running the country.

  4. The fact people thought covid was fake is laughable.

Ive had man flu, What I have not had is something that damaged my lung and permanent nerve damage.

  5. I caught it last week, and started testing positive last Saturday, had my boosters in September. I ended up with a bit of a sore throat and a fever. Was prescribed Paxlovid which worked wonders and now I haven’t tested positive for two days.

  6. Closing 2023 and people are still wearing their masks under their nose.
What can we actually do at this point…?

  7. Are lass had it, wiped her out it did. I’m good tho cos I eat my fruit and drink plenty of vodka.

  8. As someone with multiple health issues, the lingering presence of covid is a nightmare. The healthy people in my life stopped caring ages ago, as it did kind of fade away into the background, and none of them seem to have caught it.

But if I get it I’m fucked, and they still don’t understand that. They want me to put myself in situations where I can easily catch it, and I’m like, sorry mate but I don’t want to end up on a ventilator for your fucking gender reveal. But on the flipside I can’t hide from society forever. So I’m that guy wearing a FFP3 mask and getting funny looks from people who are wondering what the fuss is all about.

  9. We’re supposed to catch it every year now.

It’s no longer “novel” so why panic?

I’m sure some people will reply about immunocompromised people, but flu is equally deadly to them, just without the PR

  10. I’ve had it 5 times thanks to working in NHS hospitals. At least having all the vaccinations means it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been, but it’s still a fucking nasty virus.

  11. Pcr test recently picked up human case of swine flu.

Is that a type of covid does anyone know?

  12. Give it a rest for fuck sake, it’s evolved into a common cold, not even worth mentioning

  13. Just been on the sick for 7 weeks , If I get COVID now I’m gonna look like a right chancer. Fingers crossed I don’t need to phone in anytime soon

  14. Shit is this what I’ve got? I’m practically accidentally self-isolating all the time anyway.

  15. What’s the alternative – a return to social distancing and mask wearing? Close the hospitality and leisure sectors? Another lockdown? It’s a seasonal endemic virus – it’s not going anywhere.

  16. I realise people are sick of hearing about it, and I sympathise. If it were just a one-and-done, I would agree, but more and more people are coming down with Long Covid, myself included, and tentative evidence seems to suggest repeated infection increases the chances of LC. Which, unsurprisingly, we don’t know squat about.

But I can tell you I’ve had brain fog since my *last* bout and since last week’s run-in, now I have tinnitus. My psychologist thinks there might have been some encephalitis. Yet I’m one of the lucky ones – a friend of mine has been barely able to get off the sofa for months.

It’s not the *danger* any more. Regular influenza is more dangerous. It’s the **chronic** ailments we need to worry about. And going ‘la-la-la-la pandemic’s over, I refuse to engage’ is helping no-one.

  17. I hadn’t been more than 3 miles from house in half a decade. I’m diabetic and a heavy smoker, I really didn’t want to get covid. 2 weeks ago I finally decide to make a trip up North for a birthday party and I get covid for the first time.

I’d had my booster about a month beforehand so I think that helped. I was in bed for the fist 6 days, started with a very sore throat then blocked nose, headaches and fatigue throughout, also a bit of a cough.

I’m now on day 10, been working (remotely) for the last 4 days. I felt OK the day before work but about 3 hours into it I started to feel shitty again and it’s been up and down this week. Yesterday I felt alright and put up all the xmas decorations after work and I feel like I’ve set myself back again. Felt like total utter shit today, hardly did any work, now back in bed, also still sound like Leonard Cohen. Last test was very faintly positive. It’s not been pleasant but it’s not as as bad as some flu’s I’ve had in the past. I really don’t think it would have gone well for me without that booster though.

  18. “The CDC said at present there was no evidence JN.1 was associated with increased severity of disease, and that updated Covid jabs were still expected to offer protection.”

They always tuck this away someone down the article. Its almost like they want the clicks from scaremongering

  19. Probably what I have now, because so many people cough in public without any protection whatsoever.

And like in the good old days, they look at me with panic in their eyes because I’m the only one wearing a mask now. Nothing has changed it seems.

  20. Really… how about fuck off and buy some Lemsip, that’ll treat your cold fine.

  21. As long as it’s not actually killing you or causing serious harm, then so what? We may as well measure cases of the common cold.

This was always my problem at the height of the pandemic. That people were measuring **cases**, when in fact that is largely irrelevant. If someone recovers, then it’s a largely meaningless statistic. They should focus on deaths, which have been conclusively proven as a direct result of covid – and not just a coincidence.

  22. Originated in China yet again and been brewing over the Summer.
Hopefully it will just be an inconvenience instead of something more sinister.
