JUST FOR A DOCTOR VISIT HCP (Poznan) is charging 1860 PLN

1. I dont have my pesel till now. I just showed my student id and passport at the reception room and I waited 4hrs (more than that for the doctor). I am in tears right now I think I am the bafoon here I would have holded the pain and not went anywhere Now I blindly have to pay this much until the the insurance company “investigates my case”

2. Hard call. But to clarify some things:

   * According to the document you didn’t go for a normal doctor’s appointment but instead were treated at a hospital’s the emergency department. I do see some reason for extra charges on top of what you would pay for a normal appointment.
   * You were charged according to a price list that no one usually pays according to, as almost all patients there are paid for by the Polish health fund, which negotiates its own terms and prices. This means prices in it may be weird and exaggerated for various tactical reasons on part of the hospital, but I’m no expert on medical prices.

Looking at the documents I would rather say they’re charging you 930 PLN, which is the sum from the two tables shown above, where the individual medical procedures were listed. The first 280 PLN charge code 89.00 is the doctor’s consultation, hard to discuss with. The code 89.71 could be understood as the extra cost of triage, which is probably a standard thing at the ER room (even if your case was obvious and didn’t require much effort from the staff). You should however challenge why was it billed twice. The final 90 PLN code 89.04 for the nurse’s assist. It could be challenged, if you never saw a nurse, but it may be that it’s always charged to a patient waiting for a doctor at the ER, cause according to the rules there must be a nurse overseeing patients there. The per item prices in the invoice are according to the linked priced list.
