Dude, fuck right off. Top actors are some of the most overpaid people on Earth
Pure talent. No mediocrity here, either.
Wasn’t there an entire strike about this?
Big named actors of all races getting paid peanuts for what they do?
She’s worth 12mil and most Americans can’t put food on the table. I get it might not be fair to her, but most of us don’t care.
Nothing that’s less appealing than millionaires complaining about money.
Hmmm, the thing with being sad over the notion of black artists are paid less due to them not translating overseas is people have been stating this as a fact over the last few weeks. Taylor Swift’s Eras concert film made 250 million, whereas Beyonce’s film made 38 million, and completely bombed outside of America. Given that a concert film usually costs 15 mill to produce and that Beyonce took the step of filming every date, she likely lost money on this venture.
Also, she shouldn’t be upset that the people she hires to make her a success somehow have to be compensated via her big cheque. That’s an every-person problem.
You’re not as marketable to foreign audiences so your work makes less money and you get a smaller piece. You can’t get paid for money you didn’t generate. Also saying you’re overworked is crazy when you make ten times as much as anyone else and don’t work ten times as hard.
I get what she’s saying, but she’s not a global star, so she shouldn’t expect to be paid the same as her peers who have greater recognition (and the BO numbers to back it up). Plus, she’s over 50, so she’s not going to get as many offers as her younger peers.
Justice for Jusssssie!!!!!
Complaining on golden thrones expecting common folk to care
Just more ways to get people angry.
All three would be paid less if all actors worked for scale + a concrete percentage of profits.
She’s good but not that good. B celebrity at most. Supporting Jussie didn’t help either. Sorry but there’s tons of better actors out there.
The two on the right look like orcs
This is an absurd claim.
Actors are not employees working for an employer. They’re self-employed contract workers who negotiate their contracts with the studios that hire them and their brands.
Different actor’s brands have different values. Bankability of stars is dependent on their celebrity status, how they resonate with audiences, and fundamentally how much they can elevate the appeal and thus earnings of a movie.
Equally, even in the same movies, male and female actors play different roles with different amounts of lines and differing screen time. So I can’t see how you can realistically claim to be making less money for the same role… It’s not the same role.
Fundamentally, however, I would make the argument that acting, much like sports, is an entertainment medium where the size of a participant’s pay is proportional to the amount of value they generate among the end user consumers.
Male stars are often more bankable as leads because of the demographic make-up of movie-goers and that a larger proportion of both male and female consumers find male stars more appealing.
