  4. I don’t think it will change much for Gaza at the moment, but it’s glaringly obvious that Bibi needs to go. He needed to go before. He really needs to go now. His bravado, bragging and saber rattling failed to deliver security. 10/7 wasn’t just a national tragedy, but a blunder and underestimation of Hamas. He undermined the legitimacy and constitutionality of his government for personal preservation / gain. He failed at unity, except by means of disdain for him.

  5. Good!! Likud has been a plague for decades in Israelis and Palestinians. There won’t be a lasting peace even after Hamas is toppled if Likud remains in power.

  6. When is the next possibility for an election where this would matter?

  7. Good. I support Israel’s right to defend themselves but it’s clear Netanyahu needs to go so that cooler heads may prevail.

  8. As an outsider, where does National Unity sit on the political spectrum? What are their general views, especially regarding Palestine and Hamas?

  9. Israel really would do itself a favor by getting rid of these right wing nuts

  10. Israel has often thrown out Prime Ministers after conflicts (Meir after the Yom Kippur war as an example).

Israel has a strange ‘rally around the flag’ effect in that (from what I have read) there is an uptick in the popularity of Israel but a blaming of the PM for getting into the mess in the first place. In most other countries the head of state sees their popularity soar during a war.

  11. Good. Hamas was responsible for October 7th but the Netanyahu government was at fault.

They were responsible for keeping Israel safe and they failed. They need to be gone.

  12. Are those the same people. It’s creepie how similar they look

  13. Can someone explain how is it decided when to call for an election? Why can’t an election be called for today?

  14. Bibi needs to be sent either into prison or exile ASAP (though who would take him? the Marshall Islands? Orban?) but Gantz would be in Likud if he didn’t hate Bibi

  15. Good! What about Ben Gavir? I read somewhere that he is going to be kicked out too?

  16. Great news! This endless hateful rhetoric is doing no one any good

  17. Fuck smotrich, Ben gvir and his Putin serving outrage merchandise.

Israel doesn’t need to become a weak rage driven marionette Iran and Russia can prod with strong emotions in the general direction that suits them (the direction that suits them is permanent war footing, frozen conflict, and political paralysis bordering on or tipped into people confusing enemies and political opponents and going into civil war, if you were wondering).

Like all other countries whose both left and right political extremes are getting sponsorship or quiet assistance from the Kremlin, Israel needs to move to a centrist hill it can actually defend against those. The Russians and Iranians can’t go where there’s no vitriol and outrage. **The center is safe.**

Gantz is that. This is fantastic news.
