I’m not getting a Christmas bonus from my employer this year so she should consider herself lucky!
christmas bonus?
this years christmas do was organised by one of our sister sites general managers who is paid upwards of 100k a year and she organised it at a pub that serves £9 pints. no one went except a few upper tiers of management and the absolute pissheads.
the raffle was reduced from items you might want, like a whiskey gift set, some choccies, to shit that can be found in our racking, ie a ethernet cable made for a specific device, or a usb stick.
meanwhile at the monthly meeting the gm told us about how much money the company is making as after all they’ve made that many billions this year they decided to buy out ingram micro and a french air freight forwarder company, yeah, im not worth a christmas bonus but during lockdown i was branded as essential and vital to the running of the business, woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fuck me sideways i love this shithole of a country.
fuck you if you vote for the tory party.
Idk how I feel about this one
Sure £10 is shit but this is something extra the govt pay out, not something you live off and I don’t really think the government owes anyone anything for Christmas. It used to be a really nice gesture but certainly isn’t something owed to people
I would support extending it to everyone on means-tested benefits before increasing the amount paid.
State pension gets it too. It’s just one of those things that should be got rid of but no one wants to because they’d be accused of stealing pensioners Christmas.
It’s cute and I love the idea behind it, but a decent government would perhaps ensure those of us who work for a living get a Christmas bonus too.
It’s a bit of a kick in the balls to learn that after working 60 hours a week all year, that some of my taxes are going to people’s Christmas bonus, while I don’t get a penny for mine.
After electing a government 13 years ago to “make work pay” it doesn’t really feel like they made work pay at all.
We need a government that isn’t scared or ideologically opposed to actually regulating three companies that have such control over our lives.
Isn’t a Christmas bonus usually a thanks for all the work you’ve done that year? If so, £10 for doing nothing all year seems pretty generous
I remember when my electric provider shut down a massive portion of the old keycard topup locations around the country.
To compensate for loss of access to a basic resource that many people regularly use, the company gave myself and others a one-time payment of £5. Thanks, that should cover a few minutes of turning on the light.
Yes, yes – be grateful for what you get, or whatever. £5 is £5, £10 is £10, etc.
But, see, there’s being grateful for gestures of goodwill… and then there’s bending over and accepting a lower standard as normal, when perhaps something more can be achieved.
It’s a bonus, at work I don’t always get a bonus… It’s just the way it is. It is what it is, a bonus – your not always entitled to one just scrap it and throw the extra tenner in somewhere else in their packets they get.
Its £10 more than I got, working for a blue chip company.
