If anyone missed the Winter Solstice livestream from Newgrange yesterday, you can watch the full thing here:

I personally think it’s one of the best things this Island does every year, and needs way more attention.
If you haven’t heard of it before, you can [read about Newgrange/Brú na Bóinne here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newgrange).
The livestream is one thing I look forward to more than Christmas these days. I get quite low over winter with how dark and miserable it is, but watching this on the shortest day of the year really gives me a massive second wind, knowing that brighter days are ahead.
Grab a massive cup of coffee and have a watch. Forget about the frenzy of last-minute Christmas shopping and enjoy something beautiful and uniquely Irish for a few minutes.
Or don’t, I’m not your ma.

I posted a live link to it on FB yesterday morning, and as an adult it is by and far the strangest thing I had gate-kept by other adults.
People commenting shite like, “You’re not in to all that shite.” and “Are ye a pagan now, or something.”
All by other men who haven’t had an interest since they failed to get on the minor team back in 2002.
First off, space things are cool.
Accent things are cool.
Accent things that line up with space things, class.
Thanks OP! I enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed the streaming live yesterday. And awesome username you have.
I love watching it. They live streamed it in 2020 on a clear day and for whatever reason it was quite comforting to see it. A sort of reminder that the madness of lockdown was temporary and things would get better. I’d lost my mum a month before and she had always had a huge interest in Neolithic history. You’re right that we should promote this more and take more of an interest in it.
Lovely post! Something very therapeutic about watching this. A nice reminder to stop and take a moment.
