It’s an ichthyosaur, I guess they called it a “sea dragon” for clicks because everyone knows what a dragon is but doesn’t necessarily know what an ichthyosaur is. That said, this is actually a really impressive and exciting find. Would have been good if they had a picture but I guess they’re holding out for the television slot it’s going to be featured in.
It’s about 20 miles away from Leicester, I wouldn’t call that “near”. They could just say it was found at Rutland Water, it’s a reasonably well known landmark.
