  1. Tweet is misleading, apparently it’s only the initial delivery.

  2. Has the armament for these aircraft already been discussed or is it still open for speculation?

  3. With today’s Russian loss of 1-3 Su-34, likely from increased Patriot supply, hopes for a turn of tides in the battle for Ukrainian air supremacy do not seem illusional.

  4. Makes sense. At the moment we’ve got 42 in total with 24 in active service (to be replaced by f-35). That leaves 18 available for Ukraine.

  5. NATO has plenty of old F-16s to supply Ukraine with. The number of pilots in Ukraine is the biggest limiting factor.

  6. Correction: it is sending 18 “initially”. There is no implication anywhere in the Dutch news release that this is limited to 18 as a final number to be provided. As they have stood up their 2nd active F-35 squadron and have somewhere between 24 and 30 already with more deliveries in the immediate pipeline, I think there is the possibility of another tranche of 6 being released to Ukraine at some point in 2024.

  7. We’re about 5% of the way there. Ukraine needs 3-400 fighter jets to secure their vast territory. Let’s go the West, you can do it.
