I started reading the book about the Horizon stuff, and it just made me furious that it’s even possible for this stuff to happen. Fuck Fujitsu, fuck the Post Office. They just had their fucking contract extended again month ago:
People lost their homes, their freedom, their families, and even their lives.
There are people who know the right people, knighted or with gongs, still yet in charge of the Post Office.
When it was privatised, these people moved in, put so many on the dole, and immediately went about working out their lottery sized salaries, bonuses, and gold plated pensions.
They knew from the start that the Horizon programme was faulty, showing up phantom missing account money. Yet they perjured themselves in court to see innocent people either go to prison or commit suicide. Whole families destroyed, made homeless, sin dyed by their communities, and destroyed mentally, physically, and completely ruined financially.
They were even allowed to have a private unaccountable by law, a private police force that locked people in rooms as they berated them for hours, threatened violence and ruin, even threatening victims with ruin on the heads of their children.
This has been going on for years now and is only being investigated by a treacle like inquiry in Parliament. The PO has halved its compensation fund as it drags out. With the help of the law, compensation deals with those lucky enough to be included in recompense. Others were told they missed the application date for claim and were basically told to fuck off. Some are so terrified after the way they were treated that they are reluctant to claim because of the experience they had with the courts the first time round. They were told to plea guilty to avoid prison, but after doing so, were jailed anyway. One of them was a pregnant mother. Jailed.
As it stands, the people responsible ARE STILL IN CHARGE, STILL BEING PAID FORTUNES. They know the right people. They have titles and gongs.
