Why does feel like the periodic surge in extreme, right or left, that leaves the majority of us fearful?
Pretty scary how fast it happened.
Russia just opened a new airline in Turkey purely to smuggle migrants to EU.
This is what they are playing into.
I just don’t know why these posts are always about “far right”, but haven’t seen any about “far left”.
About time we fix Europe
Feels dishonest to only include FdI when Lega is made of the same cloth but rising and falling years earlier
For the Netherlands it should be noted that PVV isn’t the only far-right party. There’s also FvD and its offshoots, which were very successful newcomers a few years ago but have now lost most of their votes to PVV again.
So PVV votes =/= total far right votes
‘Far right’
“far-right” has lost all meaning.
Considering what Europe is becoming, can you blame them?
This is what happens when governments ignore domestic issues and promote policies on the other extreme. It would be interesting to observe what Europe would become in the next decade. Hopefully we don’t see the resurgence of an extreme right party like the one in the 1930s.
Yeah! As per the Greek experience, this happens during a recession.
“This is fine”
Just like in the 1920s and 1930s, radical parties are surging because mainstream parties are unable and/or unwilling to solve the problems that many voters face.
I wonder why..👀
“Fix immigration or immigration will fix you.”
“Far right” is just a buzz word to describe what ever is at the right of the American Left
People tired of bullshit is considered fascism nowadays
Why does this subreddit always talk about the far-right. It’s getting boring
I think western countries have regressed a lot in the last several decades.
“Far right”.
Also it has nothing to do with imperialism or even thinking that youre better than someone else. It is just wanting to live in peace as your own people, own rules, traditions, way of life. Not having to bend over just to accomodate people from the other side of the world.
It is really bizarre that people see this as something strange.
We dont want to conquer, we just dont want to be conquered.
France as well and the Nordic countries could be included in this. It’s a rising roar against unchecked illegal immigration (and high volumes of legal immigration).
Most voters don’t see themselves as far right supporters but are becoming increasingly desperate as the current politicians continue to ignore the issue.
Three of these countries were fascist in WWII, the fourth was occupied by the fascists. You’d think people would learn.
Belgium’s Vlaams Belang (far right) party most recently polled at around 27% , and is virtually the biggest party in the country.
They’re currently involved in a Chinese spy-scandal though, so it remains to be seen how well they’ll do in the near future…
I simply refuse to let my country become what the disgusting globalists want us to be
Seems there’s still hope for Europe.
I wonder how would poland look on this graph, I almost feel like we did a switcheroo with the rest of the europe recently
Don’t like immigration? Far right Nazi!
Meanwhile Slovakia getting rid of major far right party in recent elections.
Finally some good fucking news. Hopefully they’ll fix illegal immigration
The bad bad far right, who’re gonna eat your children alive and then some, just because
people are starting to snap out of the pc psychosis
What on Earth could possibly *cough cough..non-stop legal+illegal immigration..cough cough* explain this surge of the far-right ?
It’s almost as if years of socialist policy and it’s actual outcomes left most of the population feeling unheard and unsatisfied.
Also I’d love if my female friends can have a smoke outside whilst clubbing without getting harassed by people that move in groups where if you stand up to them you get ganged on.
well that’s not good
Many seem to want the term “far-right” to become this insidious label that automatically brings shame to those branded this way. But, now that several “far-right” leaders have been elected and have not transformed their countries into uninhabitable hellscapes, those who campaign under this banner may become even more popular.
Meloni was vilified and people feared her being elected yet now her popularity is at an all time high and the measures her government has taken seem quite reasonable. I believe other so-called far-right leaders will have the same trajectory. Tougher immigration laws, increased nationalism, conservatives views on family policies will become more mainstream for a while but that is not say this will lead to ruin.
This is not really surprising. A range of crises have now come to a head simultaneously.
At the same time, establishment parties seem to have taken as their motto, “when you you were silent, we thought you a fool but then you began to speak and removed all doubt”.
On a range of issues, from the potential origins of COVID through to transgenderism, established parties and civic elites have proven themselves not only susceptible to illogical beliefs unsupported by evidence, or least not sufficiently supported to be beyond question, but also to using the power of the state to coerce citizens into acquiescence of these elite fallacies.
Faced with this, citizens who might previously have been cowed into silence, or frightened off voting for fringe parties because they trusted their leaders when those leaders said the fringe parties were bad or mad, are now beyond being browbeaten.
Our institutions and civic elites face a crisis of trust. It’s almost all of their own making, and is very well deserved. But tragically, the beneficiaries really are, by and large, scoundrels, thugs, carpet-baggers, authoritarians and Putin-lickers.
It’s an object lesson in why trust and political capital are such precious commodities and why you shouldn’t waste either.
We are led by spivs, fools and midwits. They have unintentionally delivered us into the arms of crooks and gangsters. And they’re so useless, they still don’t understand what they have done or why they should feel ashamed of it.
All these folks think that these frauds can offer simple answers to complex issues that most people don’t even consider unless it’s force fed to them. Thinking only of themselves not the future generations that will have to deal with this shitshow their forefathers created.
What is the difference between right and far right?
Not surprised. Europeans don’t like the blank-slate/melting-pot philosophy that mainstream parties are adopting. It makes sense why America would embrace this philosophy since it was founded by multiple ethnocultural groups but Europe is not like this. The German, the Dutch and the Italian have no reason to act as if they have nothing in common with their respective compatriots. You can’t treat them and the foreign sharia-enthusiasts as interchangeable economic units that work, spend and pay tax.
Gee I wonder what happened in the second half of the 2010s?
We will never know…
This is hardly surprising, and I guarantee is driven 80% by feelings on immigration. People see their communities being invaded and altered by people who don’t integrate and sometimes bring with them a radical philosophy that gels poorly with the western world. They see crime going up – particularly sex crime – litter worsening, homelessness worsening, poverty increasing, and then see the incumbent parties doing next to nothing about it.
They also see the leftist position of ‘don’t criticise Islam, that’s bigotry’ and rebel against it, because there absolutely *are* things worthy of criticism in Islam and the problem of fundamentalism, just as Christianity and Judaism and any other religion with oppressive elements are worthy of critique. Contrary to popular belief, you can criticise Islam and ***not*** hate Muslims. You can be concerned about welcoming too many Muslim immigrants due to fundamentalism and not be Islamophobic.
So, rendered voiceless, they turn to the only people who will openly talk about it and talk about doing something about immigration – the fascist idiots. I mean, shit, even *I’m* finding myself gravitating right when I’ve been a lifelong leftist because this is completely unsustainable and nobody on the left will even discuss it because ‘racism.’
Here in the UK, where the asylum-seeker barge is parked, it has become *much* more dangerous for women to walk due to harassment. A kid dropped a Qu’ran on the floor at school and the Islamic community harassed and threatened the mother until she made a public apology. The Netherlands is on a Stage 4 alert for terrorism. France can’t go a week without an issue with fundamentalism. Sweden and Denmark are both tinderboxes waiting for a match, and Denmark passed a bloody blasphemy law. **Obviously** people are going to resist that.
I mean, hell, in *2017* I was taking a cab through Birmingham and the cabbie gave me a free ride past where I was originally going to get out because in his words; “This is a Muslim district; I let you out here, they *will* stab you.” In an English city, in the heart of England.
I do not hate Muslims whatsoever; my neighbour is one and we get along famously. I co-write poetry with an American Muslim on Instagram now and again. I read Rumi every day. When I was 6, living in Luton, I went to a Muslim wedding and it was wonderful. Islam has many, many beautiful aspects and many magnificent people, not to mention an incredibly rich history.
Unfortunately, it *also* currently has a problem with fundamentalism, and the more people we take in from war-torn, unprogressive Middle Eastern states, the more the likelihood we import that fundamentalism along with them, to our detriment. People recognise that, and because the only people proposing to do anything about it are the far-right goose-steppers, *that’s* where people are going to go.
Want to stop the rise of fascism in Europe? Curtail rampant immigration and make Europeans feel they have control of their own country’s borders again. And for the love of all that is Cthulhu, stop shutting down their concerns when they voice them with cries of ‘bigot!’
Hello, I’m the 305th comment in this discussion, I really hope you have or had a good day.
They literally don’t care what people think anymore, whether it be in immigration, Palestine, war, inflation, austerity and so on. I mean they literally don’t care even a little bit, or course people are looking to something different. It’s the same reason Brexit happened, they pushed UK into austerity for 10 years and the entire time blamed immigrants, brexit was a chance at something different.
What are people supposed to do when everything they have done before has failed?
Finally some good news. Thanks for lifting my spirit a little.
That’s what happens when you fuck it up, especially if you refuse to acknowledge it.
