In other news Virgin Mobile and o2 will increase bills for all customers to recoup costs from this decision.
My EE contract expires in April, I guess I’ll be migrating.
They’re trying to be the Three for modern times. It worked for Three back in the day, I guess it will work for O2.
I wonder if this also applies to any networks piggy-backing on O2, like Tesco Mobile and GiffGaff?
More Brexit benefits…Anybody tired of all the winning yet? /s
When EE announced they were going back to roaming charges this sub was *full* of redditors adamant that this would be it now, now that we had Brexited all mobile operators would be adding roaming charges back on because they’re all evil companies looking to squeeze every penny out of you. Thin end of the wedge, precedent set etc etc.
I’m sure they’ll all be along any minute to admit they were wrong and over-reacting. Any minute now..
Seems like an easy win… “roaming” doesn’t cost these networks anywhere given they operate networks there.
The other ones are just being scummy – especially Three who even promised they wouldn’t bring them back regardless of the Brexit outcome
Does anyone have any experience with ID Mobile? I’m looking to get away from Three and they seem to have the best deals on the phone I want as well as no Roaming charges.
Good news for now, I travel to the EU frequently, so this is a relief.
Side note, when my partner comes to the UK her phone doesn’t connect to any mobile internet services. She has to hop from WiFi to WiFi spot to connect to the internet. I take it many EU carriers don’t work over here or is this just a tele2 (Sweden) thing?
What’s to stop a mass switch from the other providers to O2. When all the other providers start losing customers en masse I reckon they’re likely to backtrack on roaming charges.
Does it help that they are half-owned by Spanish telecoms group Telefónica I wonder? EE are owned by BT, Vodafone are UK, 3 are HK based Hutchison. Everyone else piggybacks off them AFAIK.
