Talk about an energy transition! Everyone knows by now that oil and natural gas must eventually disappear as an energy source. But if this transition has to be paid for by the common man, brace for a revolution. The same pattern can be seen with electric cars: in 10 years’ time you won’t be able to buy one with a combustion engine, but as it looks now electric cars will be 50% more expensive, not because production is more expensive (it is cheaper) but only because the automotive sector want to increase profits. And in both cases: don’t blame Russia or China – in the chaos of transition banks and shareholders see an opportunity to increase their profits, while we have to bear all the financial burden. And our governments protect no-one but the rich
Remember, lowering the taxes on electricity is bad because rich people would then also pay less for their electricity according to our minister

Maybe someone can explain bc I don’t understand. Mind you, I only use elec, no gas.
Last years (2019- first half of 2021) the cost/kwh was about 22 cents on average. Now it’s up to about 25, I just checked that. OK, it is higher but not that much, not even 15%.
So what is it with all these stories about doubled or tripled bills?
Got some info from my energy company on the new fixed rate contract for the new year (“Luminus BeGreen”, oh the irony). The rate I pay per kWh is going to be multiplied by a factor 4.6 for gas and a factor 4.2 for electricity. Luckily the actual energy cost is only a part of the energy bill.
However, I’ll end up paying ~ 2600 euro in the coming year instead of the 1100 euro from last year… WTF A substantial increase… All of this is for a small 80 sqm house that’s very well insulated and uses a minimal amount of electricity (LED ligthing, efficient appliances, etc…)I can’t imagine the impact for people living in shitty houses that are barely able to make the payments already. They’ll be fucked over the coming year and pushed into poverty, no doubt about that.
But yeah, let’s close all nuclear reactors and rely on gas to generate electricity. Relying on Russia’s gas and importing electricity from abroad given the current geopolitical situation is certainly a great idea! /s
How are people paying this ? If I wouldn’t be on fixed I’d have issues paying for my food in these scenarios but many people seem to have big hidden boxes of money.
And I’m baffled people are not protesting daily at the gate of every government.

De Amerikaanse dollar zit met serieuze inflatieproblemen door het massaal bijdrukken van geld, de huizenmarkt staat onrealistisch hoog en de aandelenmarkt is in elkaar aan het stuiken. Daarboven op nog es de corona crisis en overheden die zwaar in het rood moeten gaan om het land overeind te houden. Dat komt niet goed.

The government gave a discount of €105 but is cashing far more than that with the 21% VAT they get on these inflated prices.
I did the Vtest without putting in my consuption and with putting in my consumption. I got +-€3500/year for elec+gas without and around €2200 with. What a difference. I’ll move into an even better insulated house in a few months (E30) so the price will be even lower in the future. Will keep heating with gas because heat pumps are still not that attractive, but I’m prepared for it when gas prices hit the fan even more in the future.
Not sure who those €400+/month people are but renovating their central heating and lighting/appliances and insulation should be really attractive to them now.

De overheid zal een kleurtje toevoegen aan het water gebruikt voor auto’s, en enorme BTW/Tax/Belasting toevoegen.
Daarom dat we nooit auto’s krijgen wat op water rijden.
Maar je krijgt ook wat je vraagt. Vele mensen hebben gekozen voor politice dewelke verklaren, je kan energie neutraal wonen. Het is je eigen keuze veel te veel te betalen voor energie.
Denk aan dikke truien dag.
