Congress passed so few laws this year that we explained them all in 1,000 words

  1. >Much of the news in Congress this year had little to do with actual legislation, but lawmakers did manage to send 27 bills to President Biden’s desk for a signature. That’s a dramatic productivity decline relative to previous years, even when compared to other eras of divided government.

    >But they’re set to start next year with a slew of legislation, if they can muster it. There are two government funding deadlines, Jan. 19 and Feb. 2, that they can solve by passing the 12 annual federal spending bills.

    >There are also ongoing negotiations about a foreign aid and immigration reform package, as Biden calls for military aid to Ukraine, Israel and the Indo-Pacific and Republicans push for policy changes to stem the record tide of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.

It was good to get a recap of the year’s happenings in Congress, but it’s a little dispiriting to see so little done that it written up in 1000 words. Hopefully subsequent sessions will be more productive, but given that a good number of politicians seem to be more interested in campaigning for the next election rather than effectively governing the country, this seems increasingly unlikely.

  2. The Do Nothing Congress is the Got Nothing Congress in regards to this.

    …I’ll see myself out.

  3. And, despite the endless stream of stupidity from the party of domestic terrorism, we are safer for their incompetence.

  4. This congress has the number two spot for least productive congress ever.

  5. They should have there pay tied to their efficiency.

  6. They were busy doing more important things, like giving guys handjobs in theaters and sharing pictures of Hunter Biden’s dick on the senate floor.

I mean. That’s why we elect these people, right?

  7. And this is what republican control looks like.
