The appeal is in the DC Circuit Court, one of the few federal appellate courts with a significant Democratic advantage (7-4, thanks in part to 3 Biden appointees). There is a 0% chance that this court rules in trump’s favor.
But trump’s lawyers know that. This is a delay tactic, which has been enabled by the Supreme Court refusing to hear Jack Smith’s request for a ruling. As the article points out, this is now the third level of the federal judiciary that this case has involved.
Eventually, after DC rules that trump doesn’t have immunity, it will go back to the Supreme Court, who will continue to delay as much as possible. Then, if trump gets reelected, none of it will matter. Which is another very good reason to vote blue.
