Advice, just bought this and I love them but they make too much noise inside buildings due to the screws. Anything I can do?

  5. Icebug makes overshoes you can put on studded shoes. They’re like an extra sole you can quickly put on and take off. Simple and effective, I find them easy to recommend.

    In addition to the noise, the studs damage many floor materials and can actually even be slippery on others.

  8. These are great for outside, especially on icy roads – but they are not meant to be worn inside.

    You may have noticed that Finns take off their shoes when they enter their homes? Yeah, there is a reason for this :_)

    Also it is common that people have “office shoes”, which they wear at their workplace, not only to not spoil the floor, but also because they are more comfortable than wearing boots all day.

  9. They sell sole covers, Icebug has ones and there are other brands, I remember seeing some in Prisma.
    I usually use my studded shoes when I don’t plan on get inside buildings as not only you’ll make modern art on the tiles, wear the studs but all the traction you gain on ice you can lose on smooth floors, they are kinda dangerous inside. For city days it’s better to wear removable studs.

  13. They’re not meant to be worn indoors. Sometimes you have to, for example when you’re in grocery store or walk into your office or whatever, but you just have to live with the noise there. Some offices require you to take studded shoes off upon entering, because they can mess up floors real fast depending on the floor material.

  15. I so wanted to pick some of those up but was told by my Finnish partner that its not allowed inside so I picked up some Halti that was supposed to be 119, reduced to 60.

  22. For anyone considering studded shoes, I highly recommend buying ice spike chains instead. Just put them on your favourite winter shoes and take them off when you go inside or when you don’t need the extra traction. They grip way better and are easy to sharpen back up.
