  1. I hate seeing this idiots face I really do, to be reminded someone so thick has been promoted so far beyond their capabilities and now has an active say in running this country…

  2. Suprised we didn’t go through the cycle of him denying it, then saying if they heard him say that they misheard, then if he said it then it wasn’t that bad… etc

  3. Yeah I don’t think irony means what he thinks it means…

  4. This guy is now onto public shaming scandal no 2 and he’s only had the job a few weeks! This government is the absolute worst in my lifetime.

  5. He certainly wasn’t acting cleverly , sorry I’ll get me coat

  6. He made a joke. In private and “off the record”. However much you disagree with his gag, are we seriously going to sack all the MPs just for being human and making a joke?

Go into any workplace, any school, any hospital, any home and you’ll hear terrible jokes and offensive conversations and opinions. But they’re never meant to be published.

  7. > He reportedly said the ideal spouse was “someone who is always mildly sedated so she can never realise there are better men out there”

  8. Unfit for office.
Just the sort of language that police officers and staff lose their jobs over.

  9. Suggestion for better dinner party opening joke for next time:

    “My surname is Cleverly”

  10. has he resigned? No? then pretty fucking meaningless isn’t it.

(no I dont think everything is a resigning matter, but I do think this is given his position and the fact of the gov actions against this the very same day).

also, and this is perhaps a bit picky of me to comment on, but thats not what ironic means.

  11. I loved edgy jokes and so this doesn’t bother me in the slightest. The greater concern is that Cleverly isn’t going to act in our interests and get anything useful done.

  12. Haha, rape bants. The funniest of all bants. Just clean family fun.

  13. Whatever happened to the famous British sense of humour, I suppose you’re not allowed to have one when you’re in office, celebrity, work on TV or an comedian!

Just the sad state of the world we live in!

  14. So to break this down and be absolutely clear: Cleverly’s joke is that he frequently spikes his wife with a date rape drug?

  15. It’s almost daily we are reminded that the people running our country are a right bunch of knobs.

  16. He keeps saying/doing really stupid stuff and it’s becoming very telling of the kind of person he really is

  17. James Cleverly is such a massive cunt. This comment, and the one a few weeks ago saying an MP’s constituency was a shithole.

Of course just do the Tory way – deny deny deny, call everyone a liar, and then give a half arsed apology days later.

  18. I keep hearing how clever this guy is but I’m starting to think not
