  1. Of course they’re saying that. He’s still the party leader. They can’t publicly admit regret until someone else who isn’t MAGA takes control.

  2. They want him gone but don’t want to be the ones that did it. I think they thought he would be in jail in time.

He still might be, but it’s going to be close. They may have underestimated how hard it is to go after a further President regardless of how guilty he is.

  3. The lack of courage in our GOP leadership to move away from Trump is disgusting.

  4. what are they gonna say at this point. too many sunk costs accrued trying to stay on the good side of the MAGA base

  5. Good, then they can go down with him for aiding and abetting treason. Let’s clean house!

  6. Of course not. At no time does a conservative play defense. Never is there contrition and this is why you can’t ever let Trump near power again. He will behave worse.

  7. They can’t say otherwise until they have a book out.

  8. Until they need a narrative to cling desperately to their job.

  9. It’s amazing. If they had the guts to do it, this country could have moved on and today be in a better place. Instead, we have the Supreme Court having to decide numerous tRump cases. Forcing a reckoning for our democracy.

  10. Senator Romney recently reported that some of his Republican colleagues told him that they didn’t vote to convict Trump when he was impeached because they were afraid of Trump’s goons.

  11. They don’t regret it. They don’t even regret that we’re still focused on this concept of GQP regret.

  12. If they didn’t, they’d probably lose reelection.

The reason why republicans keep letting him get away with this is because the republican base has them by the balls. If you get in trumps bad graces he and his supporters will end you politically. Good luck with a career when republicans and democrats hate you.

  13. President Trump and families have been under the microscope 🔬 so long next they well move on to see how many mattresses tags they have removed overall his 78 year. Not guilty of anything except bucking the normal protocol for a political figure.

  14. Why would they? They’re not there to serve the general American populace or to defend democracy. They’re there to serve the rich and their corporations, and they are handsomely rewarded for their fealty.

  15. Of course they acquitted him, some of them also were participants.

  16. Of course not. They all fell in line after Trump when they realized that it was the only way for them to stay in office.

Trump got elected for one, very specific reason: *he resonated with Republicans.* Yes, he isn’t politician-like. Yes, he’s rude, obnoxious, and antagonistic towards everyone. Yes, he’s misogynistic, and extremely narcissistic and self-centered. And honestly? That’s the point — his personality, his style, all of it is a reflection of the quintessential Republican voter. Not concerned with taxes, economics, or security, but instead about resisting the evil Democrats and being on the wrong side of every single issue they support — because that’s what Fox News has been conditioning America to be: extremely paranoid about anyone who isn’t like them.

  17. Oh look…those surviving Vichy Republicans express no regrets about supporting and working with Nazis.

  18. Everyone needs to stop victimizing these people by pushing the idea that they support trump out of fear. These people support trump because they wholeheartedly agree with the same ideals he embraces and promotes, it’s just that this time they’ve realized they’re way past their time and the majority doesn’t support their shitty rhetoric. The only option left is to sacrifice whatever freedom we have left for a theocratic form of rule. Now, we’re way past compromise and democrats need to [stop cuddling every traitor that has brought us to this point.](https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-fake-electors-wisconsin-fff7cd21e3083f300874eccd69141f8d)

  19. Of course they don’t regret it. They’re traitors who pledge allegiance to Russia.

  20. I can’t seem to block this one side political platform. And I am just going to keep watching you make president Trump look like the bad guy. This president is one of the only politicians who didn’t have a war every where in the world was at peace and president Trump is a leader and goes to other countries and set down with other leaders what has this current administration done except excite war.

  21. Funny how they never talk about the first impeachment.

If they had convicted then Jan 6th wouldn’t have even happened. [Adam Schiff warned them](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5D3iT4BhbQ) of it all too in his closing arguments but Republicans chose to not listen and stuck their heads in the sand.

As Schiff put it: “Their names will be tied to his with a cord of steel and for all of history”

  22. Why would they regret trying to help their terrorist god destroy America? That’s the entire GOP mission statement.

  23. Just a reminder that Trump’s crimes would not have been possible without the help of elected Republicans and RNC members at the federal, state, and local levels across the nation. They are still helping him. Watch for any elections near you and vote out as many right-wingers and Republicans as you can. From the school boards to the white house every election matters.

The GOP continue to protect Trump from the consequences of his crimes and they continue to spread his lies. Every seat we take is one less way they can help him.

  24. McConnell famously made the case that Trump’s involvement should be handled in a criminal court instead of impeachment. Trump is now making the case in criminal court that he is immune because he wasn’t impeached.
